Rank top on IMZY DISCOVER COMMUNITIES
I was checking DISCOVER COMMUNITIES and found that my community /television is ranking very low. Can someone let me know how DISCOVER COMMUNITIES section works and how to rank high in this section?

Your community seems to actually rank very well, at least in my opinion!
But yeah there are a few different factors that are used to determine sorting on that list. Comments tend to be weighted pretty heavily.
I'm not sure how much I should go into it though because I don't think Dan wants folks turning it into a thing to game.
That's interesting -- this is the first time I checked "Discover Communities". I think people generally like turning things into a "game" -- but, unfortunately, if you want to use the r-word as a cautionary example, games turn into competitions.
That's why I appreciate how imzy doesn't display your total "heart score" -- lest the site breed "heart-mongering".
Hey, I like heart mongering! COLLECT ALL THE HEARTS!!
Well, Imzy isn't going to tell us what data points the algorithm takes into account because they understandably won't want anyone to game the system.
I would focus on increasing the number of users actively posting and leaving comments in the community. My experience with /photopigs seems to say this is a big factor. It sat right about where you are right now for a long time, then a bunch of new members associated their usernames and it jumped quite a bit.
/television sits on the second page though, and that's not very low at all!
I asked @greenie about this a while ago, here's the reply:
Heya, it's actually neither of those. It's a combination of different data points that Dan put together, including posts, comments, etc, over the last <time period>, I want to say it runs once a day.
Longer term, we'll tweak the criteria for "sort by activity" but for the time being its basically a script that Dan threw together.
If that's what you meant.
Here is the post that describes how he did it. https://www.imzy.com/leaders/post/we_now_prioritize_activity
Thank you!
Thanks!
