Recommended communities off?
I notice that Imzy added this over the last few days - while it has the potential to be great, it's not something I personally have any desire for, as I've always found that kind of thing incredibly intrusive in my feeds. I'm the sort who, if I want a new community, I'll go looking for one. I don't want them in my feed, because most of the time they aren't actually relevant.
This is doubly true at the moment, with Imzy's small number of communities; I'm getting recs for things that have nothing to do with any of the ones I'm in. Any chance we could get a thing to turn this off, adminfolk?

I'm with you, I strongly dislike it.
I complained about this before and I feel like they got less intrusive/numerous, but I could be making that up.
I would have agreed with you if I hadn't found a couple of communities that way. I'd limit it to one per page and make it unobtrusive, but it can be useful.
Recommended communities is limited to 1 per page.
Huh, I could have sworn I'd seen more.
EDIT: Ah! I see what it is. A difference of terminology. I meant like imzy.com/ as one page, imzy.com/whatever as another page, and so on. If I keep scrolling down the "page" I'll see one community recommendation with each addition. In your terminology that's one per page, but the way I was using it, it was multiples per page.
If that makes sense :D
I don't really think of it as pages, since it's not being separated into pages, it just keeps getting added to the bottom a few at a time. Like if you have to click to go to a new page, that's a page. If it just keeps getting gradually added, and you're continuing to scroll, that's not multiple pages.
Anyway that might be overexplained.
Nope, it's once per page, and we won't show you a community you've dismissed ever again, or one you've ignored for 2 weeks.
Check my edit though. We mean different things by "page"
The only page you get recommended communities on is your home feed, aka imzy.com. They don't show up in community feeds or post views.
A "page" is defined as 8 items on web, and I think 6 on mobile apps, for your home feed.
Right. What I'm saying is only one per feed I guess. Rather than showing up every few items just show once per literal page. If I've already seen one, don't show more when I scroll.
Alternatively have a horizontally scrolling element that lets you Lee showing more if you want. That was you can see as many as you want to show in that single instance but you don't show one every few items.
This is not true, I've already gotten repeats (specifically, of a tmobile community - what happened to no ads?)
We don't have ads, but someone has made a fan community.
Hrm, you're right, the once per two weeks is broken:
Thanks for pointing it out, I'll try and have a fix out in the next couple of hours.
I found it very odd to get that one in particular repeated, no big!
As an update, I've now gotten the tmobile community recced four times. I'm starting to question this more than a little.
Yeah, I ended up getting the code done on Saturday, but didn't deploy to production because there was a bug once it got to our testing ground. We're giving it a full run on test right now, and should be in prod in the next hour.
\o/ thank you for the transparency!
Where is it showing recommendations? All the ones I've seen have been people posting ads to the Imzy com to announce a new one they've made. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong spot.
They're straight in my feed on both mobile and desktop versions. It takes a little scrolling, so if you're only looking at the top few posts you may not see them, but Imzy is a slow enough place that I'm still only checking it once a day.
