Official announcements and happiness!
Someone might have asked this already, but: when is Imzy due to open to the general public?
Edit: End of this month!
I saw it mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, and I forget what the date was and how long it estimated it was going to be! I remember it said it was a little behind schedule though.
Thanks! :)

We're expecting to launch around the end of this month :)
Wow, that's exciting! :) I hope it all goes well!
I'm sure you said somewhere, but have you folks decided what will happen with security settings then? Is every open group going to be public to everyone? Or will there be an imzy-members only setting, or...?
We're exploring some options with some "members only" settings, but in terms of launch, yes I believe all currently public posts would be properly public.
We'll have some site gating, similar to how Quora has, I believe. Like you'll be able to see a few posts and then be prompted to create an account.
Er ... is that going to be a permanent feature of the site, then, or just a measure to control access during the early days after it first goes public? I'd been assuming that needing to be logged in to view the site is something that would go away once it's out of closed beta. I was thinking about having a blog/community here for my writing pen name, but that would be a problem if the general public can't read through older posts and fiction snippets without having to be logged in.
I do love the idea of being able to have access controls on communities or (better still) individual posts, though.
I believe it's our general plan, not just for when we first go public. As with everything though, we'll see how it goes and adjust as needed. :)
Does this launch also include a phone app?
On Sept 20th it was said for about 5 weeks so maybe 3 and a half or so.
Although I know they'll push that back if they feel they need too and from seeing other things work I'd guess it probabaly would be just because launching is scary and you always wanna have those few extra things and all.
