Stuff not showing up in home page?
I noticed today that a post made in my Mental Illness group didn't show up in the home page and checking the timestamps I confirmed that it wasn't there. However (just now) going to check that I hadn't mistaken AM for Pm or vice versa it is where it was meant to be, so does imzy have a filtering system I hadn't realized, and maybe it only just hit that threshhold to be shown on my home page? Or is this a bug?
I was also able to take a few screenshots which I will link to as I still can't learn how to embed for the life of me cough cough please somebody explain cough cough
here you can see the timestamp of the post
here you can see where it should have gone (between the two posts)
and finally here you can see the post magically appearing between the two

Hi @DrGore, so I've combed through our database to try and figure out what happened and it seems the post did not get stored in the system. The only post I see coming from your account today is this post.
Sadly I won't be able to bring the post back since we don't have a record of it, but I will comb through our logs to see if I can identify what might've happened. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we'll do our best to assure it doesn't happen again.
Alright, although the post isn't gone it was a problem of it not showing up however then it did, it also wasn't by me it was in my group but by another user, as this is in fact the only post I've made today (I'm very antisocial)
thank you very much as well
Ahhh, whew, ok, I'm totally sorry I misread that, and am immensely relieved that we didn't lose data (my own personal nightmare).
As for the lag you saw, its usually a symptom of the site being used heavily or we pushed a new version of the site. The way everything works we store everything immediately in our database, then send it off to be stored in our feed system which can take a few seconds depending on how much is going on.
When we deploy code, this is haulted temporarily and everything is stored up while we push a new version of the site out, then all the data than needs to get into our feed system happens, which can cause a delay of content going in the feed by up to a few minutes.
So sorry for the confusion, and I hope this explanation helps!
that's completly alright, and that did help imensly thank you very much!
also if I may ask, what would it look like if/when that is halted, as I did notice once before that my feed was being completly empty and not showing anything at all, however it of course was fixed very shortly after so I didn't bother with it.
Ahh, you probably saw us rebuilding the feeds. Since we're still early in the site's life we sometimes have to tear all the feeds down and rebuild them up in our feed system to accomodate new data or a different data format. So when that happens you'll see the Blue Dinosaur for anywhere around 5-10 minutes depending on when we can get to a given community to process those posts/comments.
In the future as we grow, you'll notice this happen less and less, or we'll be able to rebuild the feeds without any interruptions. We have a way to do the latter, by building up the feeds on new machines then pointing all feeds over to that, but it takes time to build that out.
So in the mean time we should bug @colby to animate the Blue Dinosaur so you have something to do during the wait.
Ahh, alright, well thank you very much, I'm not the best at these things but I do still try to learn if not just for the sake of learning but also to be able to know a tiny bit more about what's happening as the site is updating and all that
It's my pleasure to help, feel free to ask any additional questions may have and we'll do our best to help out. Thanks a ton for being part of our private beta, any and all feedback helps us to make a better place for everyone.
I can't help with the feed part, but I might be able to help with the embedding part!
If you're on desktop, you can drag the image from your computer into the text area and it should automatically upload it so that it will show up inside your post. Unfortunately, that part doesn't work on mobile yet, since there's not really a way to drag and drop a file across different apps. :/
is there a different way to do it as well? as my browser likes to try to then go to the image and not put it in the thing D:
thank you very much however!
What browser are you using? It should work if you're dragging it specifically in the text area and doing it in a post, not a comment.
If you're using Chrome you can also copy the image and then paste it into the text area, and that should upload it as well.
If it's an image you already have somewhere else on the Internet, then you can insert it using the direct link to the image like this:
So for the site you used to host your screenshots, you would need to get the direct link to the image, not the page you linked to (should always end in .jpg or .gif or .png or whatever). The easiest way to get the right link to an image is just to right click on it and choose "copy image location."
Then
looks like this:Hooray!
I am using chrome, so that was probably why, however when I try to copy (either by ctrl+c or by right clicking and clicking copy) it doesn't seem to think I copied it as when I hit ctrl+v it doesn't copy and if I right click the "paste" buttoun is not lit up, also the image you sent is not showing up, it's giving what I think is the not loading symbol for chrome (not really the best at computers so not entirely sure) however if I do right click and copy image adress and put that into the url bar it sends me to the image then
@DrGore, that's correct like @Kaela mentioned we're in process of experimenting with our commenting system and some features are missing at current state. It includes preview, autocompletion for pops and drag'n'drop/paste of images. I personally miss the last one a lot.
ahhh, alright, thank you very much.
How long was the delay? It's possible it just a minute to get put in place.
If you mean from when I opened the page then not too long, I think it put it up second, maybe third time I opened the home page. However if you mean from when the post was made then I took these while making the post so a good several hours or so.
I was also downloading a thing in the background so that would have affected the speed of my internet as well.
This sounds like a bug. @James help!
