Trouble - Anon and Imzy - View - Imzy
There was a post. It was quite the thing. I think it's worth it to try it again, but with some adjustments. Let's talk about anon on Imzy. What works? What doesn't? What future trouble could it preven...
imzy.com
I made a spinoff thread of the Anon post in an attempt to get back on topic, and stuck it in my personal blog so that admin is not burdened with moderation. Everyone is welcome to comment there if they'd like! Or if they'd prefer to keep it on this com they can use this share post instead (I think? Still lots of bits I'm still figuring out.)

I'm commenting here because I don't want to join another community to discuss the site-wide Imzy usage philosophy. Sorry?
Apparently we can switch between our username and an anonymous profile while commenting within a single post. I'm confused by that because the FAQ emphasizes consistency in posting. Specifically:
Why only one username per community?
and
Later on, there is the issue of what is anon posting?
and the link to the TOS states
Does being able to switch back and forth in the same conversation enable deceit? People who aim to deceive are going to find ways to do it. I just don't think that the Imzy toolset should have the ability built-in.
I firmly believe that anon posting should be allowed. Obviously. 😄 But I'm troubled by the inconsistency in allowing people to change identity midstream.
There's not going to be a solution that makes everyone happy. At this point, I'm tired of thinking about online identities and want to go play outside.
(Replying here because I also prefer not to join-to-comment)
My take on that issue was that you're at least limited in the amount of deceit you could do that way - at most 1 username and 1 anon-self. And that's like what you get in a community already, choice of one username + anoning, which could theoretically be exploited in the same way. I'm comfortable with this as a good compromise between having the benefits of names and anon options available, while still preventing someone from acting like six someones at once or pulling out a whole sequence of new identities in turn.
I definitely would like to see something done about being able to comment as two people. Changes I think would be more in line with Imzy's own FAQ and TOS:
1) If your first comment on a post is with a named profile, you'll lose the option to flip to anon for further commenting on this post.
2) If your first comment in a post is anon and you switch to a named profile to make more comments, all the anon comments you'vd made in that post will be flipped to named.
EDIT: for clarity
