Maher Arar weighs in on #MuslimBan

For some context, Arar is a Canadian Muslim who was detained by the US while on a layover at JFK International Airport, returning to the country where he'd lived for fifteen years from a vacation in Tunisia. Arar was held in solitary confinement for two weeks without charges or access to a lawyer before he was deported to Syria, the country where he was born but hadn't lived in for - again - fifteen years. Arar was tortured for a year in Syria before being returned to Canada. It took four years for the Canadian government to apologize for their lack of intervention in Arar's case; he and his family are still on the No Fly List.
