Are you new to imzy? Come and say hi to the imzy community!
Hello World!
So... was going to check on Reddit in my anthropology classs... noticed this site described in a Bloomberg story as "Reddit without the trolls" https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-07/it-s-like-reddit-without-the-trolls (hope I got that URL right). While I think free speach needs to be maintained, I think it's still okay if we do it in a place where everyone agree not to [Censored for the love of Humanity/Trigger Warnings/Imzy Community Guidelines] is okay and somewhat welcome.
So I'm an 18 year old freshman at NYU (Go Bobcats, Violets and whatever we're calling our sports team this week). I'm a New York State native, haven't left the northern or western hemisphere, and my favorite things of media are Deep Space Nine, Paper Towns, the only four Star Wars movies ever made and the Martian... because Mark Wattney is honorary jesus in whatever plane of existance he resides within (though on this one, I am somewhat christian... unsure of how much I want to identify as one because sometime relegion can feel less 'love your neighbor' and more 'crusade-ey'.
Also... I've been writing a novel since the seventh grade. It started out as good as one could hope from a seveth grader, but has evolved somewhat into a 100,000 word behemoth about... the best I can say without going into a day tangent is 'Post-Singularity Atlantians vs. Five billion Nazis, both Antartica; with the main characters being fourteen year olds in the Atlantian military'. For the record, this is the first time I graced the interent with acknowledgment of what I have been trying to do with the last six years of my life... so it can be googled now...
So... Hello World!

Haha! Like your novel description. Sometimes these things take on a life of their own and you say "I know I wrote you but I really can't keep you under control..." Sometimes feel the same way about identifying myself as a Christian, especially online. Usually the reaction is positive or neutral, but you can never tell if you're talking to someone who's been really hurt by something under the banner of Christianity and will have a strong negative reaction just to reading the word. 😥
Yeah... the initial draft in seventh grade was basically a stupid rippoff of my then favorite books: the Percy Jackson series... and now it's... that and I cannot honestly tell you what the transition process even remotely looked like. It's like the party in 1984... it just feels like it has always been there, like the sky.
And my experience with Christianity is even more mixed than it seems. When I was little I had no idea how it was supposed to work, then I actually listened to the mass and I liked it... but now I keep on hearing how horrible my religion has been mangled to justify all this racism, homophobia. and now I'm back where I started... unaware of how exactly to proceeded on this. What I do know is that means I had a double inception reversie of my faith, seeing the light to faith, then seeing the light out of faith, but fully committing to the other way.
Though thanks for commenting.
The novel I'm working on right now has developed out of... cringing and blushing a Barbie Swan Lake sticker story book... the stickers were the characters and then I made up new stories with them that in a decade I haven't been able to shake. Religious institutions suck, like, at least 50% of the time. Like everything else. Jesus is the best. I think most people are honestly trying to do their best with what they know just like you and me.
Man, moments like these are when I wish Imzy had a friends option.
Relegion is like a nuclear reactor, it brings people together for a common and beneficial goal that should in theory help everyone... but if it goes wrong... it REALLY goes wrong.
And you pulled a story out of a Barbie sticker book? I'm not sure how the actual story is going but my hat off to you sir/madam/[Insert prefered prounoun here] for going from that to a plot.
Turns out I can follow your personal blog... so I think that is as close as you can get.
Yay :) I never post there though...
Welcome! What're you studying right now?
currently undeclared, but will probably do something in English... as evidenced by the whole giant novel thing.
