Are you new to imzy? Come and say hi to the imzy community!
Hey all!
I'm Jack, and, uh, I'm new here! Have only really been skimming the site but I really like how chill everyone seems. I'm a former Lit and Political Science student at NYU, a Seattle native, and keen to learn new things! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I would say hi, but I was sorta raised in the airline industry (back before it was total crap), so I've had it drilled into me to never, ever, ever, under any circumstances, even THINK about doing that.
So...hello.
Hello! I know what you meant, but they way you said "raised in the airline industry" made me picture you being born and raised entirely on planes, like an airborne version of Snowpiercer.
Not far from the truth. B-) The flight benefits for employees and family used to be unspeakably cheap. Like, if I told you, you wouldn't believe me, and it was always first class except the one time we got bumped to coach. We flew so much one time I was in the front row, and the tray was stored in a closet and fastened to the seat when it was needed, since of course front row has no seat in front. The flight attendant was new and didnt know where it was, so I told her.
That must've felt pretty badass--insider knowledge is the best knowledge.
Hi, from the PNW! Welcome to the imz.
Welcome aboard!
Ooh, lit and magical realism? Are you familiar with Theodora Goss? I'm not entirely sure if she qualifies as magical realism, but I rarely pass up a chance to rec her.
Welcome to Imzy!
I'm not actually familiar with Ms. Goss's work, but a summary glance tells me she'd probably write the kind of stuff I'm into. Thanks for the rec! :)
Hi Jack! Great to meet you. Come hang out at the /moonbeam_cafe for shenanigans! (Obligatory community pimping done!) 😄
What kinda lit do you enjoy most, Jack?
I'm a magical realism kinda person--Haruki Murakami, Isabel Allende and David Mitchell are some personal favorites. Yourself? :)

Thanks for the recommendation, this looks great!
I got my Masters in Modern Irish Literature, so primarily stuff that's bleak as hell :)
