Are you new to imzy? Come and say hi to the imzy community!
Hey there, everyone!
I've been a member for a few days here, but this is my first chance to sit down and make a post, so I thought an introduction might be in order.
Hi, everybody! I'm Daniel, though I'll go by Dan, Danny, etc. if anyone so desires. I'm a 28-year-old music composition major, and I must admit, I have graduated with no idea how to actually make business use of my degree.
So I currently work for a music store, and have a blast getting kids started with instruments for the first time, and doing my best to ensure they practice and stick with it. I'm also a private lessons teacher for clarinet and composition, though I only recently took the job, so I have yet to have my first student.
On the personal life, I am in a relationship, though it is still in its infancy. I'm at the stage of my life where I'm looking to be married and settle down with a family.
I'm very much a dog person, specifically golden retrievers, and my retriever, Daisy, is a wild one. She actually broke my arm on accident shortly after she became fully grown.
Well, that's a start to an introduction, I suppose, and more can come up in conversation. It's a pleasure to meet you all!

Welcome to Imzy! What kind of music do you write? Have you ever been in a band where you guys wrote and performed your own music?
Also, make sure you join /music and /dogs! And maybe /relationships will come in handy at some point as you journey further down that path. :)
Ooh, I also just found /musiccreators and /music_production. And I'm sure you've already seen this since you've been here a few days, but just in case, here are a bunch more music communities for you to explore! :)
Thanks! I'll write for any combination of instruments I'm familiar with. I've actually never been in a band where I wrote and performed, though I just joined a jazz trio recently! I'll check out those music and dog sections you mentioned, too!
Welcome 😊
Welcome dude. I too love golden retrievers. They are fantastic companions. Wishing you many happy years with Daisy. :3
Thanks! Yeah, Daisy is my third golden, but each one has been individually amazing!
Tell me about classical pieces for clarinet that are often overlooked. I'm really curious to hear more beyond chamber music.
They aren't overlooked for clarinetists, but the Poulenc Sonata or the Saint-Saens Sonata are great entries, as is the Osborne. The Rose Etudes are something that will be in EVERY clarinetist's repertoire, as they are beautiful pieces working on difficult technical issues on the clarinet.
I have a classical music community I just started - /classical_music_daily - I'll go find the Poulenc Sonata.
