Are you new to imzy? Come and say hi to the imzy community!
OHAI
Hi. Hiiiiiii. I'm Nik. I'm super silly. I make up words (to Siri's immense consternation) and I anthroporphise everything. I'm a brown trans man and displaced New Yorker.
I'm old. Especially in Internet years. I'm comfortable with IRC and usenet. I'm pretty happy with Facebook and Twitter, but for the life of me reddit and I never quite clicked. I fear I'll have the same experience with imzy, but I'm happy to at least give it a go.
Media consumption is my thing and I'm pretty medium-agnostic. I love books, comics, music, magazines, and video games. (Have I missed anything?)
I also love tea.
Nice t'meetcha. Have a lovely day. =)
[Edit] Oh, TV! I missed TV. I also love TV (and films).
[Edit] And languages. I also love languages. Ha! Thought I was going to give you another link, didn't you? =P

Hello! What type of music do you like?
Hello! I listen to Bollywood film songs; strong, rich, or ethereal female vocalists (Loreena McKennitt, Basia Bulat, Dido); drum 'n' bass; electronic fusion with strong percussion and South Asian, Middle Eastern, or Mediterranean influences (Thievery Corporation, Nitin Sawhney, Karsh Kale, Talvin Singh, Tabla Beat Science); bachata (Aventura, Monchy y Alexandra); aaaaaand prolly other stuff not coming to mind at the moment. =)
but what about metal tho
Nope, not for me. But Metallica did have some of the best ballads. =)
ah, that's a shame. but understandable.
also, Blind Guardian does the best ballads. :P
WILL YOU STILL WAIT FOR ME
WILL YOU STILL CRY FOR ME
COOOOOOOOOME AND TAAAAAAAAAAKE MY HAAAAAAAAAAND
OH -- haiiiii!
Welcome, friend :-)
Thanks!
Nice to meet you too!
Hello! I'm Cat.😊👋
Hi, Cat!
Hiiiiiiiiii Niiiiiiiiiiik!
Hullo!
You ought to drop by /transgender - we're friendly folk, I promise!
Thanks!
Welcome! I love your username : )
Thanks, @Jessica! =)
Hey there Nik! I miss the days of IRC and never got along with reddit either, so you're not alone on that front! I see from your Goodreads that you are a fan of the Great Terry Pratchett - which of the Discworld gang were your favourites?
Anyway, nice to meet you and welcome to imzy! :D
Thanks, @Pipsy! I feel like I have to re-read the series every so often, and it's been a while. I also feel like I remember concepts and stories more than individual characters. Like how the post office came into existence. Or moving pictures! And I adore tales of empowered young women, like monstrous regiment.
How about you?
I too feel as though I need to reread - I didn't feel inspired to read some of them when they came out (particularly the Tiffany Aching ones) so I know for sure I missed some of the newer books, but I will always love the ones with the Ankh-Morpork City Watch members, and ones that do well as stand-alones like Soul Music, Small Gods, or Moving Pictures! I feel like I really enjoyed Going Postal too but I don't recall ever reading Making Money. I am with you on thoroughly enjoying women kicking ass in Pratchett's stories - as a child I wanted to be Angua, hah. All of my "real books" are on another continent, so I'm going to be downloading them c/o an online book retailer to read over the next couple of months, aren't I! Thank you very much for the trip down memory lane :D
Welcome. It was fun. For more on young women kicking butt, I highly recommend the Fairyland series. I've only read the first two books, but they were both great fun and super inspiring.
Oh, I've read the first one! By "first" I mean #1 and not #0.5 anyway. I hadn't realised the author had released so many more! Thank you very much for those recommendations, too. :D
Welcome! Where did you hear about imzy?
Hi, @Dan. A friend of mine was participating in the beta and asked if anyone wanted an invitation. I always say yes to beta invitations because I must have the newshiny even if it's just to squat on my username. =)
Well, glad you're here!
Thanks!
