Are you new to imzy? Come and say hi to the imzy community!
*waves*
Hi everyone! Like most people here, I just joined Imzy and am still figuring it all out! I'd like to make some friends/join some communities/have fun conversations so this seems like a decent way to start. I'm hoping it can be a social platform to replace Tumblr for me, wich is terrible for social interaction. I'm 25 and Belgian (native language is Dutch). I went to university to study film and (primarily english) literature and then found a job in a public library, where I do a bit of everything. At the moment I still live with my mum but I'll be moving to my own house at the beginning of next year.
I love movies but don't see nearly enough of them, I love tv shows and get overinvested a lot, and I love reading. Favourite genres to read include historical novels ( primarily about badass women in the Victorian Age) and Golden Age detective stories (which I wrote a thesis on once). I also listen to a lot of podcasts.
I'm pretty fannish, I hang out on Tumblr @ sallylockharts a lot. I was in Supernatural fandom for a long while despite not watching the show beyond S8, before that I was into Harry Potter and Doctor Who and some smaller fandoms. For the last few weeks I've been very invested in Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven Cycle.
If anyone has any reccomendations for communities I might like, feel free to let me know!

I miss Belgium, haven't been there in years.
Hi! Welcome! :D
My parent's native tongue is Dutch...but once they moved to Canadian, us kids didn't learn...sad times!
I'm jealous that you work at a library, I've always wanted to :))
If you have any historical novels (of the badass women persuasion) recommendations, I'd love them!
I always wanted to work at a library as a kid too, then I lost sight of it and kinda rolled into this job. But it's great, as you would expect! :)
For historical novels with good women I like Emma Donoghue a lot (especially Slammerkin but also Frog Music and The Sealed Letter). Also Wilkie Collins, who wrote amazingly modern women for his time (19th century), and used his novels to adress inequality a lot. Especially No Name and Armadale are great. And obligatory mention to my username character from the Sally Lockhart series by Philip Pullman, which is written for teenagers but holds up really well! The first one is one of my favourite books of all time ;)
If you have any recommendations yourself I'm always happy to get some too!
I don't have any recommendations for historical novels, since it's not a genre I normally read...but recently I've been wanting to get out of my comfort zone :)
