Having trouble using Dropbox on the iPhone/iPad
I can't figure out how to save a Dropbox Photo onto my iPhone or iPad. I know I've done it before, but I don't remember how. All of the instructions I find online were posted several years ago, and don't apply now. Does anyone have advice?

I use it on my iPhone. Click to open the document or photo you want to move. Your buttons will change. Up in the right hand corner there will be three dots for more options. One of those is 'export'.
Thanks! I had tried export, but somehow missed the icon to save it to my device. This time I looked more carefully.
Say, do you happen to know if there's a way to force a photo you're saving to an iPad to save under "today," and not the date it was originally taken?
That depends on what kind of utility you use to save and archive your photo to your iPad. A photo app may (depending on the app) provide you with an option to organise files in order of those saved most recently, but the date of creation that you're carrying over is actually stored in the metadata of the photo and will remain there unless you strip it out.
These aren't necessarily my own photos. I might send or receive them via air drop or email -- or dropbox!
If the metadata is messing up the way you usually organise your files, why not just create new drop box folders with different dates of receipt? Would that help?
This isn't a dropbox problem, but rather an iPad/iPhone one. Using Dropbox doesn't change the metadata of the photos. I was hoping that there was an iPad setting that would organize by date of download to the iPad, rather than by the date the photo was taken.
Sorry, I may have misunderstood! The basic photo viewing app I'm familiar with on both iPhone and iPad has pretty basic viewing features and will use the metadata in photos to sort by date. If changing the viewing/sorting prefs to something more customisable is needed, you may need to try out some of the album apps on offer for pro photogs, like photo shack pro.
