Jimmy Reed and Lauren Taylor: On The State Of Election Affairs
Lauren: fed up This is it, Jimmy! I've had it up to here with this election cycle! I've heard the same deal so many times! Not voting for the Democrats is a vote for the Republicans! But what if I don't relate any more to the Democrats than I do to the Republicans?!
Jimmy: softly, as he places his arms around Lauren and draws her close I absolutely understand what you mean, Lauren. I do so much, in fact. I never had any use for partisan politics. As far as I'm concerned, the Democrats and the Republicans are just two sides of the same flawed coin. It isn't right that we, as Americans, are forced to choose between two incredibly flawed parties come election day.
Lauren: sighing I know, Jimmy - right? This is just frustrating. I really would like to go Green, but...
Jimmy: To be honest, Lauren, I'm not sure where exactly I stand on the Green Party. As I said, I never had much use for partisan politics. This whole election system really need to be... Well, it really could use a great overhaul.
Lauren: I totally agree with you on that, Jimmy.
Jimmy: Y'know, Lauren, I never quite expected to be drawn into this. I've been on this earth for over ninety years, now - and... I believe this is the very first time that I've given much attention to the election cycle. Just because I'm afraid of the prospect of Donald Trump as President, I... Y'know, honey, I think I could go for some sanguinaccio gelato, right now - and then maybe a dip in the pool.
Lauren: quietly That sounds like a good idea, Jimmy. We're only two months away from Election Day, now - and...
Jimmy: Well, dear, I think relaxing in the pool really could do us some good. Why don't you go get your bathing suit on, while I go serve up the gelato?
Lauren: smiling slightly Good idea, Jimmy! Good idea!
