Admin: General Update

Hi everyone!

Since we're still pretty damn new, and stuff is still settling in, I figured I'd give you a general update on what's been established so far and what stuff is still being figured out. Feel free to jump in with suggestions or comments!

Established So Far

Pic of the Day -- I've got the Pic of the Day rolling and it seems to be going over well. :D For the moment, I'm alternating screen caps and art, but the balance may shift a bit more toward art in the future because there's a lot of awesome art out there and I feel like we see it a lot less than we see screen caps.

Discussion Post -- The first discussion post went up on our first day, which was a Sunday, to give people somthing to interact with, but these things generally do better on weekdays. So the next discussion post will go up tomorrow (Tuesday). For the moment we're sticking to weekly discussion posts, since we got a couple votes for those but none for every other day discussions.

Off Topic Post -- I haven't made one of these yet, but the plan is to put the first one up on Thursday. Please comment if you think it's more appropriate for another day or if you don't want one!

Planning For The Future

Prompt / Challenge Event -- There's been some interest in a regular prompt / challenge event. I originally phrased it as a fic thing, but it occurs to me now there's no reason it can't be fic / art / etc. Anyway, I've been getting other stuff set up and letting our membership grow before I take a shot at this. My instinct is to wait for us to hit 50 members before I run the first one, but I'm happy to start it earlier if you folks want to see it now. Before it does run, I'll probably set up a poll / some polls to figure out frequency, format, etc. Your input on this would be much appreciated!

Pinned Posts -- I don't want to have more than two pinned posts, since I find scrolling down several posts to new content mildly irritating in other comms I belong to. Right now the two pinned posts are the Welcome post, which is doing very well, and the Content Poll, which is turning out somewhat less useful than I'd hoped. It's a bit useful, but I'm not sure it belongs up there long term. I may try out a "Resource Post" instead, which links to the content poll, the collection of recs links, and anything else that seems like easy access long term would be good for. Thoughts for stuff you'd like quick access to are welcome.

Tags -- Our tags are pretty limited right now! Please let me know if you want another one to easily find stuff. Off the top of my head, I've realized we need a vid tag, a Pic of the Day tag to collect all those, and we should probably break "discussion" into "meta" for most miscellaneous discussion by members and "Discussion Post" for the scheduled posts.
