On-the-Go Knitting and Organizing: Knitting Apps for Knitters
Apps are everywhere these days. There's an app to track every glass of wine you ever drink, an app track how many miles you run, and even an app to help you find the cheapest gas in town. Fortunately for us knitters, there are also apps for knitting.

These look useful, but what I really need is a pattern generation app. I want to make this item, at this size, with this sized yarn, these sized needles and this stitch.

Something like Customfit: https://customfit.makewearlove.com/about/ ? I've heard amazing things, though I've never used it.
Or do you mean something that takes a given pattern and shows you only the parts relevant to the size you put in?
I guess .. I'm new to this and a bit out of my comfort zone. I am used to diving in and running off with little direction. Following a pattern seems to have helped.
I also had been trying to make a hat using a cross stitch but couldn't find a pattern that would teach me how to close it properly. I ended up using a different stitch.
I had a very old software on am old computer that you would input the measurements, your gauge, and a few style options, and it would generate a sweater pattern for you (basic bottom-up construction.) long gone now. But it wouldn't be that hard to program, i think. Haha maybe someday I'll make a web app for it 😅
I wish that stashbuster app worked on android. I would pay actual money for an app like that.
I know. Right now there seem to be a few apps for Android that do yarn substitution calculations - if your pattern calls for X balls of Y yarn you will then need Z balls of Q yarn, based on gauge and ball yardage - but nothing seems to have that 'you want to make generic project X in size Q out of Y yarn, buy Z balls of it' functionality.
This sounds useful. I am going to check it out.
That sounds almost like the "Knitter's Handy Book Of..." series. I know they're available as ebooks, but I don't know about an app.
Also, that article was very iPhone-centric. On my Android I use BeeCount as a row counter - it's pretty straightforward to use and lets you do some complicated linking of repeats, I'm happy with it. But are there other Android apps people would recommend?
I use Ravulous - both on my Android phone and sort-of-Android Kindle Fire - to access my Ravelry queue/projects/etc. on the go. It's not free but it is pretty handy.
