The Chalk Brush
This is a simple question that will probably have an obvious and simple answer. But here it goes: How does Mr. Lafferty make his shading so smooth with that chalk brush? I downloaded his brushes from his DeviantArt, but no matter what I do it turns out extremely dark and extremely grainy. Is he using a specific eraser that he goes back in with after laying down the shading on his initial line art? Or are the brush settings different from when you download the brush, and they require some tweaking? Forgive me for the silly question, but I am a noob when it comes to photoshop.

One thing i've noticed when experimenting with the chalk brush is if you hold it down without lifting it off, you get a consistent color to shade with and if you want to make it darker you just shade ontop of it. It's hard to explain really without a video or something to show it.
you have to activate the pen's pressure at the top as in the image below

Or look at the options of the tablet to the pressure of the stylus :)
Is one smarter to use than the other? Or do they achieve the same effect?
Is not which of the two will be more effective, i would recommend that look the options of the tablet before you use the button to pressure from Photoshop
I think it all comes down to the tablet. I had to put my pressure sensitivity (Not in PS but at my tablet settings) really high to have an effect close to Kienans. (I have a simple Bamboo Pen)
Thank you very much! :)
