Challenge art piece review

Hey everyone, I'm sharing with you my last piece done for a challenge for a facebook group (DRAW or DIE group). Let me know what you think, I personally find that the colors turned out to be kinda too dull to me but hey, better finished than perfect ! =)
PS : I don't want any self promotion here but you can find all the concepts and process related to that piece over there : https://www.artstation.com/artist/ansem

I think it looks great. If you want to add a little pizzaz to the colors with little effort, here are two options to try:
1) Make a new layer over top of everything and set it to Lighten. Select one of your darkest shadow colors, move the hue to the purple-blue area, move the saturation pretty high, and up the brightness by just a couple %. Set your brush to be very large and textured, then brush that in on the new layer. You can then adjust just that layer (control-u) until it looks right. Your goal is to make the shadows contrast just enough with the rest of the colors to add interest.
2) Take a paint/color texture (like the one I'll attach at the end of this...just let me know if you'd like more, I have many in hi-res) and put it on the layer above. Up the saturation. Set the layer to about 12% opacity and Overlay or Soft Light, play around with it. You'll see it gently affect your colors, adding a bit of interest. If there are areas that you don't want it to affect so much, like your lighter background, just mask those away slightly.

Thanks a lot for your insight ! I really appreciate. It turns out that my second screen's color display is ALOT duller that the cintiq I'm working on, and since I preview most of my work on this very one...I didn't pay attention to that so I guess I'll have to get a new one since its very old lol (can't afford a cintiq + a decent second sceen ^^). Well anyway, I'm interested by your textures photos indeed (I won't use them directly on my work, but it could be a very good reference material to in my opinion). =)
Yeah it's very useful to have around. The principal is similar to Kienan using the noise layer that he's shown a few time, just gives a different feel. It doesn't take much to make your own, obviously, just take a nice textured brush with high hue/saturation/brightness jitter and go at it.
