A community for leaders on the Imzy platform.
A Change to Community Settings
Hi there!
Today we’re rolling out a new way to set up parts of your community.
Until now, you needed to go into your settings and then choose the post types you allow for your community. Now, you'll have a lovely new tab labeled App store.
In the app store, you'll be able to:
- Add/remove post types from your community
- Add/remove integrations from your community
- Add/remove plugins
Here's what it will look like.
Pretty, right?
It will be even better soon! This change is in preparation of the beta release of our developer platform in a few weeks. We're all pretty excited about this : )
Thanks everyone!

I'm so excited! Not for this page exactly but for what this page is signaling is coming! Note the tab name 😄!
So does this mean someone could program a special post type and sell that to communities? If so, too cool!
Yes!
Oooo, promising!
I've joined the Dev community, haven't read too much but looks promising. I'm stronger on desktop programming (C#, C++, etc.), But I'm decent with web programming. Never used an API before though. What language will it use?
It will all be API based.
I've never used an API before. To tie into the API what language will I use? Will formatting be HTML and CSS like normal?
An API is not tied to any language. Normally you send a request to the server (example: give me all the post from the user's feed) and the server will respond with the data in (normally) JSON or XML. So you can just parse it and integrate it into your application.
So as long as you know how to parse the data that the server sends you, you can do it in C#, Java, Python or even Brainfuck.
Awesome, I'm super excited for this. I think I read somewhere that the Dev beta hasn't started yet, is that correct?
Cool!
As a community Leader my mind thought of 100 different things when I saw this post :) so excited!
Oh my god! I can write a game, relevant to a community. And people can play it. And extend it.
I'm guessing plugins (or whatever the proper name is) can be written in any language targeting Javascript? Elm, ClojureScript, whatever?
It's so pretty!
We need more confetti in the office.
We need an emergency celebration button that fires confetti and turns on party lights whenever we deploy something truly awesome.
That should be the first app. Post to a community, confetti shoots out at Imzy HQ, lights flash. Video is taken and posted.
+1 to this
omg am I the only one worrying about having to clean that up? we already have enough issues trying to convince people to do their dishes, let alone clean up a massive amount of confetti that gets everywhere!!
edit: clearly I just hate fun.
Now go do the dishes.
