A community for leaders on the Imzy platform.
I'm confused
So I randomly get emails from the imzy community saying I need to post more in my community. Post more and my members will interact with me. I go and look and I have 7 members. 7 members "that haven't chose a username". I have no idea what that means. I think it means, that I have 0 members.
Sorry this post has no point, I need more coffee

It means you have 7 members who have not yet posted. When they post, they will be asked to choose the username they want to use permanently in that community, either an existing one or creating a new one. (For example, I'm "misbegotten" in this community but use a different profile for other communities). Or they can post anonymously, if your community is set up to allow anon posting.
So you have 7, but they haven't posted yet! Good luck!

I got one of these reminder mails on the first of the month after nobody had posted to the comm since October 16th. So I'm not sure of the exact conditions for triggering it but it seems to be linked to having a couple of weeks of inactivity.
The real challenge is getting your members to post :-)
That's our problem right now. It's like they are terrified to post or interact, it's really weird and we have nearly 100 members. =O
Exactly the same is going on mine!
Interestingly, my polls do quite alright!
We've tried one before and no bite. But since we have an important event going on tomorrow we will see and we will try a poll
go to https://www.imzy.com/account/notifications and turn off all the notifications. :)
It sounds like the people are interested in the idea behind your community, but don't feel like there's a reason to post yet, or maybe they just joined to read what other post, and you don't have any thought-leaders there yet. Can you share what community it is?
It's the Freemason community
You might try posting an "Introduce Yourself!" post in /freemasonry, tell the others a bit about yourself and your hopes for the community. That might lure some people out of lurker status. Also, asking them what kind of content they'd like to see is sometimes a good conversation starter.
Polls are good for encouraging engagement. We see a much higher conversion rate of lurkers to contributors out of folks who vote on polls.
But if I remember correctly, you don't have to choose an identity to participate in a poll. Is that correct, @MisterWoodhouse?
I honestly do not know. I'll ask.
Yup. I just joined /polls, voted in a poll, left the community, and never had to choose an identity.
But I agree that polls are a good way to encourage activity! They just don't solve the problem of "unmasking" your lurkers.
Well, the conversion of lurkers to participants is when they unmask themselves. Poll voting seems to encourage that conversion.
