A community for leaders on the Imzy platform.
The importance of values
I wanted to make a quick post and stress the importance of community values. Values are essential for a group to become a community. There is a difference between a group and a community. I'm not talking about overarching values of Imzy -- these exist and we talk about them, but I am talking about your community's values.
It's not always required to state your values, but it is always important to have them and reinforce them, and for members, even subconsiously, to understand them (and identify with them).
I encourage you to at least think about your values, and possibly post to your community and have a discussion about your values.

That is an excellent gif that definitely illustrates my core values--bad dancing and suspenders.
Sorry, sorry, I know this is meant to be a serious post.
It's extremely important to communicate values on a regular basis, and also to request community feedback and communicate your goals. That is how you attain folks that agree and will grab a hammer to help build and recruit others.
Lurkers are also more likely to come out of the woodwork when they know exactly how to participate.
It's also a risk to not talk about it. If there are too many people participating in a way that runs counter, attempts to get it back on track can, and probably will, backfire.
Those are some very good points. With my Avenged Sevenfold community, I'm taking into consideration issues I've seen within the Avenged Sevenfold fandom before - and thinking of ways to prevent those issues from occurring within my community.
In /racism one of the first things I did was set up the About page. The most important part of this page for our community is the Community Goal, and the Principles that uphold it. A character limit on the page forced me to utilize posts for each Principle section, but this worked out nicely, since posts can hold discussions. I've decided to hold off on posting the rest of the Principles until the site goes public to get more interactive feedback and increase awareness.
