Dismantling the Patriarchy, One Newsletter At a Time.
Welcome to Lenny! Let's introduce ourselves!
Hi everyone!
Welcome to Lenny Letter's community on Imzy. We're so excited to have you join us!
As you know, Lenny Letter, the dream child of Lena Dunham and Jenny Konner, is all about "Feminism, style, health, politics, friendship and everything else".
Lenny at Imzy is a place to share your stories and have discussions about what Lenny shares with you. Let’s learn from each other. As Lenny says, there is never too much information.
To celebrate this fantastic occasion, we had an awesome, exclusive Lenny Letter t shirt created just for you.

"But how do I get this amazing work of art, Imzy?!"
Well, it's pretty simple!
Introduce yourself in the comments! Tell us about you, your pets, your passion, post a picture, or anything you want to share. We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you!

Hi there! I'm Dan, the CEO here at Imzy and a long time fan of Lenny, Lena and Jenni. I'm so excited to see this community finally getting going, we've been working on it for a while. Please let me know if you have any troubles!
Hello! I'm Ramou from Black Girls Talking-- excited to be a part of this announcement with you! I like people watching, spending too much money on iced coffees, and spa days.
Welcome! We're super happy to have you here : )
How do you take your iced coffee? Just black? Cold brew? Americano? All very important questions!
Two splendas and a very tiny splash of cream!
Hi! I'm very into the idea of Imzy as an online community. I came here via Lenny, which is one of my favorite newsletters (another fabulous online platform, I love a good newsletter). I'm a graduate student in the U.S.
I like intersectional feminism, hip hop (and I enjoy hearing people talk about how to make those two loves co-exist, sometimes it's tricky), tv, yoga, and girl culture of all stripes. I'm interested in teaching and pedagogy, especially making popular culture useful in a classroom. And I just started learning to lasso and do rope tricks. That's all I can think of right now! Excited to see what's in store for Imzy. :)
Welcome!! A lot of our communities are pretty small right now, but we'd love to have you join in and help make them even better. A few you might be interested in: yoga, hiphop heads, and twoxchromosomes. Plus if you go here (or click on the telescope up at the top right corner of the page) and then filter by interest, you'll see a ton more really great ones related to diversity and feminism.
What are you studying? What's your favorite tv show? Lasso and rope tricks sound super cool!
Thanks, Kaela! That's amazing. :)
I'm studying American literature! I'm a big nerd about it. My favorite tv shows...so hard to choose. I'm pretty enamored with The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Broad City currently. I also love Empire and anything Shonda Rhimes touches is pretty grand.
Awesome! I was an English major as well. :D What's your favorite book or author? John Steinbeck is my favorite author (esp Travels with Charley is amazing), but Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine just barely edges him out for best book, I think.
❤ ❤ ❤ Broad City. Kimmy Schmidt has left me a little underwhelmed this season though. :( I have to admit that Scandal is a guilty pleasure even though I also think at this point it's pretty beyond ridiculous. WHY DON'T THEY JUST KILL ROWAN??
Hello, I'm Jaleh! I work on UI, UX, and artwork for Imzy.
I enjoy hanging out with my 2 house bunnies, Kiwi and Poppyseed. I also like traveling (to anywhere sunny), dancing, and gaming.
Can't wait to learn more about the rest of you!
░ ∗ ◕ ں ◕ ∗ ░
Do you have any pictures of your bunnies?
Yes! Here they are :)
Oh wow these are so cute! I want to snuggle them but I feel like they would not approve of this.
I wish I could snuggle them too but you're right, they hate it! :P
My first bunny, Chewy, loved cuddling and would even nap on me. He passed away a few years ago. Here is a pic of him :)
I just actually died. Rest in peace, me.
Oh my goodness-- those back feet are so CUTE.
OMG @Jaleh those bunnies are ADORABLE!!
Thanks for taking a look at the pics ☺
Happily, Jaleh! Seeing those wonderful bunnies made my day!
Thanks again for the great avatar and background pic for /nfl -- I'm trying to think of good ones for /kindness too.
The pondering panda is super cute right now :) lemme know if you come up with any particular ideas and I can draw something up!
Will do! Thank you @Jaleh!
Cc @Eilis
I like the thoughtful panda too :)
Well that makes many of us. :)
I work in UI/UX too! Also BUNNIES
That's rad!! There are a couple fun UX and design communities on Imzy btw. Hope to see you around ^_^
WOOF! I'm Lena's dog Lamby and I go everywhere she does. I enjoy long walks on city streets and pooping on Lena's floor.
What's a community anyway?
I'm a big fan of Lena and am really excited to be a part of this new community. I've been following Lenny on twitter and stuff and this community looks like something I'll be super into! I want to post something but feel a bit afraid to. Is it ok to post stuff?
Its totally okay to post stuff! Go for it!
This is a community for everyone! This is a place for everyone who shares the same values and interests as Lenny to share and discuss together. Make it yours! :)
Hey everyone, I'm Matt! I'm a rising senior at Rutgers, and I'm from (Central/South, it's disputed territory) Jersey. I've been a big fan of Dunham since Girls premiered. Furthermore, I was drawn to Imzy because of the site's premise of a place where people are just nice to each other. It's really a shame that there's just so much vitriol in the world and on the Internet, and I love how Imzy isn't about that at all.
My interests are a hodgepodge: moral philosophy, auto racing, Philly sports, politics, hiking, cinema, modern art, and technology.
I'm looking forward to many a wonderful conversation on here!
Hey, I'm fringly, part of the Scottish imzi contingent. I'm trying to become a writer by writing lots of stories on the internet and the rest of the time I do jobs which actually earn me money. I have a little black cat who has no tail, but makes up for it with sheer force of mischief.
I'm the leader over at /jokes and we're open for not only jokes but also stories or video of stand up and comedy. You're always very welcome to come by and share if you have anything you think that /jokes might like to see!
Much love to you all and I hope you have a great time here on imzy.
Love your cat's eyes and expression!
She's a total sweetie!
Welcome Lenny!
I'm the head of community for Imzy. I'm a big fan of Broad City, Drunk History, my dog Buster, and birds- especially pigeons : )
Oh hai! I've been a huge fan of Lena for a long time, and it's only grown as she's continued to do more and more awesome stuff. :)
I have a dog, and I work a lot. I'm mostly boring and stay home and watch TV all the time, haha. Not a huge amount to tell. Ummm... yeah. Cool!
What are your favorite shows? ...& I wanna see your dog :D
Hi there! My name is Saidah, and I live in Brooklyn NY. I'm lucky to be able to work at NPR Music, and durr, I'm a big music fan. Proud feminist, but also concerned with diversity in women's issues. Been enjoying receiving the Lenny newsletters, as the long-reads have been stellar. Excited to try our Imzy and see where this community of folks ends up exploring!
Working at NPR Music sounds legit awesome. What is your favorite thing about working there?
Hey Greenie! It's pretty awesome... I would have to say that being surrounded by true music fans, and the fact that we have the luxury to only cover what we want to cover (i.e. as a non-profit, we don't HAVE to do anything for sponsors and/or cover anything that doesn't perk up our earbuds, ha) is pretty great. We have a saying amongst the team that there's a lot of "Big Ears," so I hear so much music across so many genres. It's pretty cool.
And another nice perk - most of the leadership on our team is female. Pretty cool for a global organization!
that is pretty rad!
Do you work for WNYC/NY Public Radio? Or the national NPR organization?
National...
Hello! I am Kalli, Imzy's lowly intern and social media manager. I like playing with my bunnies as well (shoutout to jaleh) whose names are Betty and Mabel, teaching Chinese to elementary school children, and hiding from my four siblings :)
There are no lowly interns. You work with Imzy and that makes you special!
Hello! My name is Adam and I'm one of the leaders of /kindness ...
I'm happy that you're here and I look forward to more wonderful posts from you!
Hi! I'm excited to be here and am loving Imzy so far. I'm a lighting designer for concerts and stage, sometimes dance, rarely opera lately, occasionally theme parks. Thanks for having me.
Hi, I'm Kelsey! I'm very excited to that imzy exists and that Lenny is a part of this awesome community. I recently graduated law school and my work focuses on internet law and privacy so an internet space committed to challenging online harassment is incredibly important to me. I love feminism, dogs, and burritos - although not necessarily in that order. I also got married last week to my badass partner. We surprised our families after my graduation with a backyard wedding! There was a lot of drinking and burritos so safe to say that it went amazingly.
Congrats on graduating law school, that's awesome!
There's a lot of interesting and fairly exciting stuff that I've seen (as a layperson) regarding internet law and privacy, so that's super cool. I read "Hatecrimes in Cyberspace" recently and really liked that.
Also congrats on getting married! So many things to congrats about. :D
Thank you for all of your congrats!!
I love Danielle Keats Citron! If you're interested in the topic, I really enjoyed Sarah Jeong's "The Internet of Garbage." Her work and a lot of other similar work by digital liberties activists explore the intersection of freedom of speech and privacy on the internet. It's a super challenging topic and sometimes rare to find people who discuss it without immediately shutting down the other side. Citron is one of those rare gems in the internet law community.
Yes, totally read that! I thought it was solid as well, though a much quicker read. I bought it for some friends who are also interested in the topic, because its a pretty accessible style. The comparisons to spam and our developing understanding of that was super interesting.
And yes, its so difficult to have conversations about free speech (and "free speech") without resorting to oversimplifications, strawmen, and everyone putting words in each others mouths.
Hello, I'm here via Lenny letter. I'm a huge fan of Lena... she makes this word a better place and always puts a smile on my face. Also, I'm super excited to be 1 of the 2000 who will receive a signed copy of her just released book.
My dog Bella and red bull are 2 of the greatest things on earth, without them I would be miserable. I enjoy reading, going on road trips (which I don't get to do enough of), I like tattoos and girls (TMI??)
Anyway, I'm excited to be part of this community and look forward to watching grow into something amazing.
Any cute dog pictures you want to share? Also that's so cool you get a signed copy of the book!
Hey there! I just came up for air after binge reading four of the essays posted below. Super psyched to see you here on IMZY!
I'm Jessie, a video game developer and writer currently living in Vancouver, BC. I'm working on a book, "Unless it's Worth it," about my generally naive climb from rural poverty to English teaching in Japan to somehow landing a career in LA as a video game producer and then crashing and burning spectacularly under adrenal fatigue (spoilers?). Mostly I spend my days writing, hiking BC and cuddling my Bernese Mountain Dog and two rescue cats. I deal with the ebb and flow of self employment one day at a time but thankfully Vancouver is a pretty chill place so it's a (lot) easier than LA would have been.
Oh man, I'm a Derp! I forgot to mention I also lead the Diversity in Gaming community, as well as Tabletop (with Neal), Big Shiny Girlcast and Geek Craft. I did some consulting for IMZY to help them get up and running and am totally in love with their mission and philosophy to try to make the Internet a better place. Having worked in online gaming for more than five years I have definitely received a collective butt-ton of harassment online.
Hi! My name is Sarah and I'm a graphic designer and comedy writer from Chicago. I am in love with all things pop culture. I love swimming pools and salty foods. I don't really subscribe to horoscopes or Myers Briggs types, but it's also VERY important that you know I'm a Gemini INTP.
I'm so excited this community exists! I'm an actress and writer, currently working towards an MFA in Creative Writing through Lindenwood University's online program, and building my career as an actress in Salt Lake City.
One of the greatest gift the Lenny Letter has given me was Gillian Jacob's essay about her time at Julliard. There was so much about it that spoke to me so personally. As a woman in the entertainment industry, we so often deal with these tiny boxes that we're all supposed to fit into, and there's so much pressure to be certain things, to meet certain expectations. Gillian's wisdom validated what I'd been sensing--the need to just be true to yourself and to trust your work. It's provided a lot of encouragement, especially when I'm facing rejection.
Hi! I'm Jenn and am here through Lenny's website. I'm from Vancouver, Canada and am currently on mat leave with my baby girl. I work in non-profit on the donor relations side and am currently trying to figure out how to raise a strong, feminist daughter (while giving her the space to make up her own mind....lol). Excited to be a part of this community!!
hey everyone! i'm Saraí and i'm an avid reader/writer from Chicago :-) i'm an English major with a concentration in AmLit. i'm also getting a minor in Gender and Women's Studies and another in Music.
You should totally check out that "what are you reading" thread if you haven't yet. I'd love to steal ideas for what to read next from people here :p
thanks sooo much!
Hi, all! I'm so freaking thrilled this community is on Imzy! I recently did a massive inbox purge and Lenny Letter was one of exactly two newsletters I kept. I think the first story I really sat down and read was Jenny Slate's essay on getting a vajacial... and I knew I was home, haha. So excited to meet you all!
Hi! I'm Jenna! I am a writer who always has questions. I also take way too many pictures of my cat. Like, way way too many, you guys. Currently, I am reading "Ceremony" by Leslie Marmon Silko. If you have any reading suggestions I'd love to add them to my (never ending) reading list!
Are you liking Ceremony? I just sat down in an airplane and I accidentally left my kindle in my checked baggage :(
I picked up a book at the airport newsstand, basically just picking whichever one looked the least terrible. It's called "the night sister" and hopefully it's decent because I have a long trip to Boston!
I am! I like how Silko uses language and how she organizes the words on the page. As a writer and intersectional feminist, I've been trying to read all kinds of novels from women of different cultural backgrounds. It has been a wonderful endeavor!
I hope "The Night Sister" is good, as well as your trip to Boston! I love Boston. Such a great city. I hope to live there soon!
Hi! This new platform seems so exciting, taking my first good look around! I'm an avid Lenny Letter reader living in Berlin, Germany (I'm Dutch though) and that is also how I came to join imzy. I love yoga, reading, sometimes writing, meditating, I work as a copywriter, and my next project is to learn (more about) coding. Other than that, I am usually in my hammock trying to see faces and other random things in clouds - if Berlin 'summer' permits ;)
Hi all! I discovered this community through the Lenny newsletter as well. Currently, I am a student at the University of Florida, go Gators! :) Seeing a new community of friendly, like-minded people is very intriguing to me since I continually see cyber bullying and how it affects todays youth such as myself. I'm at a defining point in my life and Lenny has been helping me shape what I want my internal future to look like. Anyway a few things I love include: going to the beach, watching sitcoms, Amy Winehouse, shopping, going to concerts, traveling, and feminism!
Hi! I'm mostlycats.
I've been reading Lenny like it's my job for the last month...maybe because it's all that has kept me sane through my job's slow season, but probably because I love the content. I'm excited to find a community where I can have an interactive Lenny experience.
Some of my favorite activities are clapping, nodding, and smiling...or at least you would think so for how often I can be seen engaging in such behaviors.
I enjoy making up snarky hashtags.
Ta-da!
