My husband and I will be married 10 years Aug 19th. We met online ( he is English, I am from Oklshoma originally) so we had Skype dates. Sometimes we would also put on a movie and them text back and forth while watching it "together".
Now we grab a Starbucks while the kiddo is in karate if we're lucky. But we still quite enjoy each other's company so that's good!
We enjoy hiking, picnics at the beach and going to the movies, but now we have kids that tag along. 😊
Awesome!
How well can you date with kids? You still find time for one on one time?
It is hard! I have a lovely neighbor and she will watch my kids while my husband and I go out and then I return the favor for her and her husband. It is so important to reconnect sans kiddos. We went to a Giants game and it was so much fun just the two of us.
Most of our one on one time comes after the kids go to bed so it is limiting.
This is why I'm super scared to gave kids...
It was much easier when we lived 5 blocks from my parents. They would watch the kids at the drop of a hat so we went out a lot more often. Then we moved 1400 miles away!
But we do enjoy our family time, bike rides, Pokemon Go, basketball games and we wouldn't change it.
I'm scared to make the change. But I bet I wouldn't hate it if I did have kids.
I tried... It didn't even get to a first date. My date before that turned out to be a dare
hugs!!!
I'm currently in a great relationship, but we don't often go out on dates. The formality of it all and the obligations to get done up nice make it more stressful than meaningful. We go out to eat and go to movies and everything but never consider these things "dates". We just like to have fun :P
I think it can still be a date even if you don't get all dressed up!
Dates should be fun :)
My biggest relationship advice to everyone, though, is to always be sure to try new things together! Even if it's not a 'date', it can help bring new perspective and excitement to an already awesome relationship!
I'm sure we'll set up a date night eventually. We DO have one date night a month, where we go back to the restaurant we first got together at. That'll do for now but I'm open for anything in the future! :3
That's very sweet!
Netflix is sometimes the best date.
Very true :)
I go on dates with my wife. Does that count?
For sure! I think married people should still date :)
Are you asking me out? Cause I'm not turning down that milkshake offer.
My last date...ugh. Take the Hindenburg. Multiply it by the Titanic. Now multiply THAT by Mount Vesuvius and take THAT result and raise it to the power of the Black Plague. Now finally take that result, and on a scale of one to ten, what you have is a one.
My last date, using that scale, was a 27.
TOTALLY!!!!
Let's Grab Milkshakes! ;)
The math you have there is entertaining, but.... sounds like it was not a good date??
Nope. I don't want to. I went on a date after I divorced. It sucked. The only dating I did before then was when I was still in high school and college, which means I really have never dated as an adult. I have no desire to date as an adult. Also, I have the whole three kids thing to think about. I'll continue to read books. Books are good.
Everyone has their own level of want and comfort! I think it's awesome to be happy just how you are :)
I'm actually in a (almost) two years relationship with a fantastic and incredible person who I met at college. He's so nice and romantic with me. We often go to the cinema and sometimes we like to play the role of two people who see each other for the first time! It's so lovely to go out on dates... ♥
How wonderful!!!
I enjoy dating, but I don't do it frequently because I don't like relationships and leading people on.
I think my favourite date I've been on was the one that started at the tea shop with mugs of tea, hours searching through the stacks at a used book store and laughing at terrible book titles and covers, Chinese for lunch at a tiny but amazing restaurant, and then movies at my place until the last bus out of town that night. It was an all day sort of thing, and stands out as one of the greatest times.
I also went on a lot of "non-dates" with a friend over a long span of years, but in hind sight every single thing was very datey. Highlights include going to opening night of a rom-com together, hours spent on long-distance phone calls to the point that I bought long distance plan and his parents bought him a long distance plan, that Easter weekend in our gap year, a shopping trip that was different than so many of the others, and countless hours at the local Tim Hortons.
I'm also a big proponent of the self-date where you dress yourself up, treat yourself to that special lunch/dinner/coffee at a high class place, and a movie or whatever. All alone for the day.
A self-date sounds sweet!
Date night is Monday for my wife and me. We're pretty flexible on what constitutes a date -- sometimes we stay in and watch a movie, other times we go out to eat, sometimes we just drive around and have adventures and/or good conversations.
We also have regular "writing dates", where we go to the local iced tea place, shove our earbuds in our ears, and get some writing done. It's a date because we're both there, I suppose. :)
Every day off I get I take my sweetie somewhere fun
That sounds AWESOME! :D
It definitely is. Today we are both tired as all hell so I some spa stuff and I'm going to make a spa and tacos night because why not
Hahaha yes!!! Spa + tacos sounds awesome
Spacos?
SPACOS. LOVE IT. i have beef, lavender face masks, homemade bath oil, lettuce, and I'm getting some nonalcoholic wine if i can find any. We about to relax the hell out of ourselves. Now I'm all excited. If I manage a goofy picture with face masks I'll share it
How wonderful!!! 😃
I've never been on a date or in a relationship.
