Ever made a vision board? Did it help you out?

I think I've made one before without intending to! But I kinda like it and it looks like fun!

I have made two vision boards in my lifetime. One was an 8th-12th grade collage on the wall next to my bed. I filled it with comics that made me laugh, quotes that I frequently needed to hear at the time, and bits of things that brought up happy memories (ticket stubs, candy wrappers, pennies, anything that was linked to a good day). It did help me remember, through the numerous bad days that make up one's teenage years, that not all of the days are bad, and to focus on the good parts.
The other was in my mid-20s. I never assembled it into a board, but I made a daily task of cutting out words or images that spoke to me for a few weeks and put them in a pile. I was trying to make a huge life decision about my career and whether or not to move across the country, and a friend suggested this. After I had amassed a small pile, I spread them out on the table and looked at the trends. Without my head getting in the way, I was able to see what my heart clearly wanted, and the decision was already made. I highly recommend it!
That's so cool! I want to make a physical one now :)
Actually, that sounds like a great way to spend my afternoon! The landlady left a stack of magazines when we moved in...
Oooo, do post if you feel like it when you make one! I will try to also :)
Hmm... no scissors at the Air B&B. I wonder if I can do this digitally... I'll give it a shot! If I have any luck, I'll post!
:) :) :)
I have but it was with a group of ladies I worked with and rather specific to work and health goals while excluding other things that mattered. It would be interesting to do again since I have changed so much since I did this exercise.
Actually... Maybe I'll make a page in my journal/planner to do an updated version.
As to whether it was helpful or not, I suppose it was in a limited way as it wasn't very well rounded.
I used to decorate my binders for school like this - tho i wouldn't have called it a vision board i guess it was kind of the same thing? definitely helped me to get through long school days haha
Sounds perfect!
I made one in school once, but it was for a class and my teacher never gave us back our vision boards. It kind of defeated the purpose of making one! I hope everyone's vision boards helped her out though lol!
How sad! Hahaha, I imagine her collecting them over the years... an entire room covered in other people's stolen visions...
Same here lol. I was like, what is she doing with all of our vision boards? It would be funny if she was donating them or if she did something like left them in the rain and didn't want to tell us lol.
@LeptisMagna this sounds like a story waiting to happen hehehe
She was mean, so she probably really trashed our hopes and dreams and cackled while we wondered why we never got them back lol.
:D
I am picky about design and would probably spend way more time trying for a cohesive, visually-comprehensible layout than this exercise probably wants.
Kinda want to do one anyway. But as art, maybe via GIMP, because collecting magazines is messy.
Hooray! Do share if you feel like it :) :)
I've done them digitally for writing and such. Never organized a personal one, although I do have a lot of pictures saved that make me feel happy/inspired.
