Help needed! Any ideas welcome :)
Hi, all. I need your help. I'm planning to write a script for a Batman short film. I'm good at writing but i can't think of a storyline. Do you have any ideas? I want the main villain to be Joker (and Harley Quinn), and i want Robin and Catwoman to be there too (i hope that's not too much to ask :3) If you can't think of anything Batman related, you can also just leave any ideas for stories whatsoever :) thanks in advance, Luke

Maybe you should look into writing prompts?
Already did, but that's more for writing books, not screenplays. I could try again though

How cool! How about... Gotham still has stereotypical 1950's conformist values in the modern world. Harley Quinn and Joker drop out and try to inspire imagination. But after their message meets a little enthusiasm, the media portrays them as insanely dangerous. Batman's a psychotic billionaire obsessed with "saving the law abiding citizens of Gotham" from them.
(Maybe you'll find this article useful?)
So make Batman kind of the villain then?
Yeah, that's what I had I mind. Or he might be the hero (antihero?) depending on the viewer's personality. (Kind of like "The Wire," which tries to reject good guys vs bad guys.)
That's really interesting, i'll try it out! One question though, how do Catwoman and Robin/Nightwing fit in
Does anyone have ideas they'd like to share?
I was thinking that Harley, Joker and Batman anchor the story as visionaries. In contrast, Catwoman and Robin are more flexible, loose in some ways, so they can do things which cause interesting situations and move the plot.
Catwoman's imagination could be awakened by Harley and Joker's message. Unlike Harley & Joker, it's about imaginative self-interest rather than bringing people along.
Robin/Nightwing could basically be about rules. (Might he be suspicious of Batman, because Batman's above the rules he enforces? But also depends on Batman's resources?)
Through tips from you guys, i now came up with this: Joker has unleashed a terrorist attack upon the citizens of Gotham. In the process, Deadshot kills him. Nobody has a clue who hired him and why. After this, Harley goes crazy, angry at Batman for "saving citizens but not Mr J." She is determined to kill Batman, to get revenge for Joker. Batman and Robin have to reach out for help from an unexpected ally: Catwoman. Together they must face the army of thugs Harley has at her disposal. Will they succeed? But in the end it turns out to be a test from Joker to find out how capable Harley really was. Clayface got shot. Joker hired Deadshot. It might be a bit cliché but i like it :) what about you guys? Sorry to @Sleepymachine for not using his story, i could simply not find a way to incorporate Robin and Catwoman
It'd be pretty sweet to see Harley with a really big villain role, more than a sidekick :) Just one idea!
Could be, but in my opinion Harley isn't really the brightest villain with the master plan
Your movie could make a new Harley😉
Honestly, if you look at Harley, she was Joker's psychiatrist in Arkham. I wouldn't say that makes her less than bright, she just saw "clarity" in the Joker's thinking and broke mentally. Her infatuation for Joker is her weakness. I imagine this dynamic will be a plot point in the upcoming Suicide Squad.
