I Forgot My Phone

youtube.com

You likely remember this video when it came out.

Let's discuss it!

Are phones a problem?

Does the video have a point?

And really, what was life like without the cell phone?

I do try to make an effort to put down the phone. My fella is quick to remind me if I am using it too much haha.

Sometimes I miss the days before cell phones to be honest... I feel like I knew more then because I didn't have the world at my finger tips.

I've never actually seen this video, but it does make a point. There's a time and place for your phone, and there's a time and place not for it.

Some of this though, I feel like the phone just replaced another activity. Guy cuddling with his gf/wife in bed, I think he would have been reading , and that's a 2 handed activity instead of one. The lunch with friends one is annoying, but the people clearly weren't interested/engaged with the conversation. Some of them though, like the photos/videos. Those are absolutely times and places for phones. Especially since you're paying more attention and reliving the moment.

Life without a cellphone was an inconvenience, maybe? I've had one for just under a decade, but primarily use it as a landline because for several years after I "moved out", I'd still spend around half my time at my parents place in another town all together.

I still remember the one time I forgot to turn the ringer off on my phone before class my freshman year of college, and my phone hating teacher used it as a lecture point. I have never been so embarrassed.
