[SILLYGIVING] LGC's Official Baby Velociraptor Explainer!

If you're new here, you might be wondering, "What's all this about baby velociraptors, then?"

Earlier this year, when LET'S GRAB COFFEE was a much smaller virtual coffeeshop, @Eilis was posting some admittedly silly polls.

One of them featured the question: "If your chocolate fountain couldn't fountain chocolate, you'd rather it gush..."

One of the options was:

baby velociraptors (that stay babies)

Well, I thought this was hilarious.

Not just cute little baby velociraptors, mind you. These were cute little baby velociraptors that were somehow genetically bred so that they would always remain cute little babies and never grow into ferocious predators.

And they were coming out of a broken chocolate fountain.

So I made this GIF in response:

A little further along, Eilis started a "Crazy Nachos" event where she encouraged people to post pictures of their wild nacho creations. For her part, she was making these dessert nachos:

When she posted her final dessert nachos creation, I added a little something:

/imzysaurus/post/imzysaurus_eating_dessert_nachos

Note: this is technically an Imzysaurus eating dessert nachos, not a baby velociraptor -- but the cute dinosaur connection kept to the motif.

When Eilis started an "Extreme Pizza" event, I submitted my offering:

Baby velociraptors became a running gag.

An Unofficial LGC Mascot.

And that, my friends, is the origin of the entire baby velociraptor affair.

So now you know — and knowing is half the battle!

LGC!!!
