What are your local food traditions?
Inspired by a Discord discussion: Are there some dishes that are associated with specific days of the week where you're from? Any traditional holiday dishes? Or just some other great local food stuffs people might not know about you'd like to share!

In south Texas weekends are all about pan dulce (sweet bread) and barbacoa (traditionally a whole cow head roasted in a pit, but you can do just cheek meat in a crockpot) for breakfast. Tamales are traditionally holiday food, but have become a year round thing. Thank god. Oh and don't forget the menudo for hangovers.
In the UK people have fish for dinner on Friday's and roast dinner on Sunday. I do neither as I'm veggie.
Most British dishes are pretty boring, meat and two veg type stuff, I've eaten far more interesting things since I became veggie than I did as a kid!
A regional dish would be Cincinnati style chili. You either love it or hate it. Usually found on top of spaghetti with shredded cheese (a 3-way), or on top of a hotdog (cheese coney). Seriously good stuff!
We have buckeyes: peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate!
That sounds very unhealthy. Unfortunately, it also sounds very, very tasty : (
A fellow Ohioan!
I'll start with Finland: here, pea soup and pancakes (inseparable!) are strongly associated with Thursdays, and in recent years, Friday has become the pizza day - there's even a nice alliteration in the name, since Friday is 'perjantai' in Finnish.
As for holiday dishes, the most unusual one is probably 'mämmi', which is (supposedly) a dessert eaten during Easter that's made of rye and served with cream - - although I can't recommend it to anyone, I'm not a fan of the stuff at all.
I'd like to try them!
