What do you think?

I studied Phillip Glass in college. I find this quote interesting.

What do you think about it?

I think it's fine if you have no expectations/requirements or particular pressures and are given a certain amount of freedom/self-responsibility. I think if somebody expects you to do something for which criteria do exist but that person gives you no guidance (no rough outline, no help whatsoever) and just hand-waves vaguely, it can be very stressful. I don't do well at all when I have absolutely no idea of what's actually expected of me - if it's in a work situation, having an encouraging manager is essential.

It's certainly true for me. I'm the person at work who gets tasked with figuring out how to do the stuff nobody knows anything about. I've frequently said, "I have no idea how to do this. Let's get started!" I love that launch into free fall feeling.

It just makes me think of playing a videogame and having a walkthrough handy. You already know what to do next, no effort or critical thinking required, which makes it boring.
