What podcasts are you listening to?
What podcasts are you all listening to? I've been kind of bouncing around looking for a good podcast to listen to while knitting. I'm thinking about starting We're Alive - A Zombie Story of Survival again, but it'd be cool if I found something new!

Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me.
Undisclosed
Ask Me Another
This American Life
RadioLab
StoryCorps
Um... I may have an unhealthy addiction to NPR.
Stuff You Missed in History Class
Myths and Legends
Thanks! I'll have to check these out. I've listened to one episode of Undisclosed and have a bunch waiting to be listened to.
I second all of these podcasts as I too have an addiction to all things NPR. Great list!
I am a huge proponent of The Beef and Dairy Podcast Network: http://www.beefanddairynetwork.com
It is an extremely British and dry comedy podcast that posits a world where everyone is obsessed with cows and eating beef. Lamb is a dangerous gateway meat favored by teenagers. Cows can be mayors. It's just unbelievably funny and a fully realized world.
Thanks! That last one sounds funny lol.
I've had this one on my list for a while. Thanks for the description.
Podcasts!!
99% Invisible - fantastic little glimpses into design and culture we pass by every day
Skeptics' Guide to the Universe - Science news and discussion of skeptical thinking. Can sometimes get political, so avoid if that's not your cuppa
Roderick on the Line - Uh. It's two guys bullshitting and using a lot of hyperbole for a while every week, and I'm not sure anything's made me laugh so much. You'll love it or hate it.
Ohhhh 99% Invisible sounds amazing. These all sound good! Thanks for the recs.
Overinvested podcast, about pop culture obsessions;
fansplaining (about fandoms and whatnot);
Welcome to Night Vale (original story told as radio broadcast).
Thanks!
I haven't been listening to many lately so I'd be interested in hearing some suggestions. However @Eilis and I are actually in the early stages of recording one!
I've been trying to remember the names of some of the other podcasts I listen to. I lost some of them a while ago, but I remember that the first season of Serial was crazy.
That's really exciting! What kind of podcast are you guys recording?
Going to be a mix of serious, sass and silly. We're hoping to do a collection of "we learned about this" type of topics and discuss things that interest us.
That sounds fun!
Should be! We will post an announcement for the first episode soon :)
You and @Eilis need to listen to "MY FAVORITE MURDER" damn it to hell.
Oooh
i knowww..... if we do, will you give us cookies?
RAWR!!!
So yes, right???
My Favorite Murder, Sword and Scale, Reply All, Cracked Podcast, This American Life, NPR Politics, Comedy Bang Bang... too many...
I'll listen to pretty much anything with Merlin Mann: Back to Work Roderick on the Line Reconcilable Differences
Also some non-Merlin stuff: Jimquisition FistShark Marketing Road Work Less Than Live with Kate or Die Stuff Mom Never Told You
(dangit, I think I need to actually learn markdown to make stuff look right from the mobile app, haha)
I'm listening to Welcome to Nightvale and Alice Isn't Dead which are by the same folks and are both super engrossing podcasts that pull you into strange and immersive worlds. Nightvale is from the perspective of a local community radio station reporting about the "normal" occurrences that happen in a very strange dessert town...and the weather. While Alice is a more "straightforward" narrative about a woman driving across America and encountering the weird and often terrifying in order to figure out what happened to her wife.

Alice Isn't Dead http://www.nightvalepresents.com/aliceisntdead/
I've been listening to a lot of audiodrama, so... The Black Tapes is creepy but excellent, and if you like that, then Limetown is similarly so. The Bright Sessions, which is like the records of a psychiatrist who works with unusual people with weird abilities, and there's an actual evolving plot. Eos10 is a hilarious comedy about two cranky doctors on a spacestation, and it's great. Wooden Overcoats is that podcast that you should listen to if you like quirky BBC comedies. Super funny.
For non-fiction, I like Criminal and The Dollop as well as fivethirtyeight's Election Podcast, which covers the presidential election!
My favourite podcast at the moment is very interest specific, but I thought it was worth mentioning. If you're an ice hockey fan/Arizona Coyotes fan, AZ Den Talk is hosted by two awesome women to talk about their favourite and hometown team, as well as hockey in general! They currently have a series of Women Who Love Hockey going with lots of wonderful guests, and is definitely worth checking out !
Thanks! Unfortunately I'm not into any kind of sports, but I'll def pass it on to some of my hockey loving friends.
Brilliant! :)
What Say You!! The first podcast I ever listened to. Also it's nice to scroll through Nerdist and pick out episodes with people you're interested in
Oh man, it's been forever since I listened to Nerdist. I forgot about it! Shame on me ha ha.
I love The Truth; they're a bunch of mini audio dramas, about twenty minutes an episode. You have to watch out though because some of them are incredibly creepy or frightening, and they don't have warnings or anything so you never quite know what you're getting...
My favourites at the moment are Reply All (human interest stories that are all related to internet phenomena in some way), Film Re-Roll (where a group of tabletop roleplayers take famous movies and try to roleplay through them, often ending up wildly off-script) and Tanis (mockumentary about a journalist and a hacker trying to unravel a creepy supernatural mystery, from the folks behind The Black Tapes).
I recently got hooked on We Hate Movies. It's hilarious.
I def gotta check that out!
i second this rec!
mine is nerdy and heavy on philosophy because it does fill in the time when i'm spinning: History of Philosophy. But fwiw i also go on youtube and just randomly trawl for lectures and documentaries as well. The last proper documentary i saw was about the only female emperor in china.
