Serious discussions about music.
What Have You Been Listening To and General Discussion Post - May 25, 2016
Talk about whatever you want here, music related or not! Go ahead and ask for recommendations, make personal list (AOTY, Best [X] Albums of All Time, etc.) This thread is also meant to encourage sharing of music and promote discussion about artists. Any post that just puts up a youtube link or says “I've been listening to Radiohead; they are my favorite band.” are discouraged. Make an effort to really talk about what you’ve been listening to.
PLEASE INCLUDE YOUTUBE, SOUNDCLOUD, SPOTIFY, ETC LINKS! Recommendations for similar artists are preferable too.
Format it something like this:
Band Name: You must write a description of the band and what you find enjoyable/interesting/terrible/whatever about them. Try to really show what they’re about, what their sound is like, what artists they are influenced by/have influenced or some other means of describing their music.
or Artist Name – Song Name If you’d like to give a short description of the song then feel free
None of the usual Community rules for comments will be enforced here, apart from one: Don't be a dick.

lofi.hiphop is a collaboration between different beat makers from a small forum: http://lofi.hiphop/vb/forum.php. It's a neat little project and they seem to be putting out mixtapes every month. It's boom bappy hip hop with a lot of sound effects that make it sound like you're listening to them from a tape. Hipster shit...but I kinda like it.
Stevie Ray. Rev. Gary Davis. Furry Lewis. Bob Dylan. Mississippi Fred McDowell. Joan Jett. Cyndi Lauper. Joni Mitchell. CSN. Mississippi John Hurt. Albert Collins. Bo Diddley. Leadbelly. 5 Blind Boys of Alabama. Joan Armatrading. Etc.
I've been checking out the new Red Hot Chili Pepper's stuff, they released the title track and Dark Necessities from "The Getaway" which comes out in June I believe.
I have such a deep passion for music, but I haven't been getting the same joy out of it lately. After watching the latest episode of CNN's The Eighties, I wanted to listen to some great 80's rock again. They touched on some late 80's stuff too, like Nirvana, which got me really tingling for when they release The Nineties!
Also I'm a giant TOOL fan, so I've been listening to them and Puscifer a bit lately.
This reminds me of when I visited my dad's hometown in China and passed by a girl wearing a T-shirt that said, in English, "Tool - Not the band, I'm just a tool". I was like "I hope she knows what the shirt means", but I don't think she did.
