My personal space for posting my artsy crafty stuff and other things that interest me. Come on in and say Hi. <3
Awake Again (still?) (more?)
My insomnia is back with a vengeance.
This means I stay up late trying to think, all muddle headed, of ideas for creative projects.
Current Ideas:
- work on my graphic novel storyboards.
- start preliminary planning for co-authored children's book.
- create nifty art for t-shirts and what nots.
- scribble aimlessly and hope something magical happens...
What do you think about when you can't sleep?

I'm all about waking up earlier than my alarm clock and puttering about.
I often like being awake when everyone else is asleep. It's quieter and maybe easier to do creative things.
Then again, I needs sleep...
Oh yes I can understand that.
I tend to be an early riser type person despite also being a crappy sleeper.
When sleep is not an option (not even the pathetic lolling about in the dark staring at the ceiling type of sleeplessness), I take a pen and scribble on paper. It can't involve a bright screen. Must be work on paper! It's even lovelier by candlelight.
Sometimes this results in the writing of essays, or poetry; other times, outlines of plans for projects with micromanaged milestones and budgets. Storyboarding is fab! Dim outlines of drawn characters. Really quiet music practice is also a balm when the mind is racing over things to do.
I do really love the clarity of thought that comes during twilight. I can write three times more and faster during this hour, and I'm always pleased with the insights and ideas that emerge from work done at this time. I wish it could be that way at any time of the day. I don't think that's just a result of little interruption, either. I feel like I'm in a different state. Eyebags be damned!
Well I'm glad you get little pieces of loveliness out of your sleeplessness. That's a special twilight gift from your muses it seems!
I have no difficulty sleeping. I can sleep during important meetings, at supper, in the dentist chair, waiting fora job interview, on the train, in the park, maybe even in the bath.
But if I did have trouble sleeping, I'd take it as my duty to humanity to come up with Imzy posts to keep us all entertained.
That sounds like me if I lived in apposite land. Heh.
I think about the state of the world, the state of my finances, the state of my online life, and my state.
It's no wonder I can't get back to sleep.
Yeah I usually give myself the "what the hell do you expect to do about (issue) at 2 o'clock in the morning" lecture if I stray to seriously stressful topics.
Usually, I worry that my books are crap, then I just watch DVDs until I (hopefully) doze off again...
Awww! What sorts of DVDs are the best for late night "why am I awake?" hours for you?
Favorite TV shows... Big Bang, Columbo, Corner Gas... Cartoons... Sometimes, a movie... Monty Python...
Sheesh... Do we share a brain or what? Big Bang and Corner Gas and Monty Python are essentials in my life.
[giant grin and high five]
There was a solid 2 year period where I would fall asleep to Corner Gas DVDS haha
I totally hear you. I have the full set right here in my room ;-) Plus the movie!
I caught a couple episodes the other day on TV. But I sadly no longer have my DVD copies. I hadn't yet learned my lesson on loaning things out.
Oh mercy, my favorite DVDs ain't going nowhere, I can tell you that.
Good!!
Random Late Night Thought: Who is the woman who makes yipping sounds like a coyote that lives on my floor? It echoes down the corridor in a most peculiar manner... (also it's 1am. Shaaadup!!)
Coyote lady must have known I was about to put on pants and go bang on her door. The sounds seem to have stopped...
Did I speak too soon? Probably...
(sticks head under pillow)
I can't even imagine how that sounds! Am I gonna have to YouTube this? See this happening - Google: videos - coyote barking sound - and then the yawning maw of random search results will swallow me up, trapping me in a surreal interminable loop of cute animal vids.
Yeah they're pretty cute when they don't corner you and your chicken of a dog in an orchard... Just me? Hell....
No way... how did you get out of that one?
Orchards have a lot of deadfall... Picked up a big branch and reigned in my mutt. Walked with purpose. Talked loudly and sternly at the coyotes. Didn't turn my damn back on the buggers though that's for sure.
But yeah. They're cute.
❤
Brave!
Had to get home! Maybe I should blog about the bear incidents. Hahaha.
PS coyote woman is still yippy yapping... Remind me that it is wrong to threaten to venture bodily harm upon neighbours? It's not very neighbourly.
Noooo! Really? You absolutely must.
Ugh. I might.
Night!
(sticks head under pillow and wishes for sleep)
But what if the yapping is part of some awkward fetish? Should you knock? Or just yapp back? What's neighbourly?
Yap back. Definitely.
@TheLizardQueen, there's a very funny scene in Zootopia where all the wolves "start a howl." One starts howling and the rest can't help but join in. Heh.
Haha oh gosh.
I thought about posting this in my own timeline, but felt it would be lonely over there, so I'm coming over here where there are already other posts on the topic to keep it company.
Bedtime stories. When was the last time you read one? Had one read to you? Do you recall what story? What are your favourite ones?
I read my partner a bedtime story from the Diving Belles by Lucy Wood. We bought the book a couple of years ago afer visting Cornwall with our imaginary dog, who stayed down there to live among the seabirds and the stars.
My fella and I take turns reading to each other on occasion. All sorts of stuff. Most recently he read me the first chapter of House to House.
and it didn't keep you up? !
In the "give me that I need to read" way when his voice gave out sure...
