My personal space for posting my artsy crafty stuff and other things that interest me. Come on in and say Hi. <3

They say time flies when you're having fun. Apparently the same can be said of time when the days all mush together into a puddle consisting of yourself and blankets found on any horizontal surface available.
Still sick (ill? afflicted? I don't know what to call it because I as of yet don't know what it is). So that explains the Lizzie shaped lump on the couch I guess?
I'm trying to come up with an idea for a project but my head is swimming in circles today and I feel mostly useless.
How do you jump start your creative side?
What kind of projects are you working on or planning for the coming month?

I write haiku, because it only takes a few minutes. I can write them at work during our five-minute breaks, and still feel creative. It is better than a large writing project for me, because I have only 3 lines to be overly-perfectionistic about. :)
In my case, I like photography, so I try to read about the latest stuff and all. I'll read magazines, articles, reviews for the latest gear, technique etc...
And then I'll try to go somewhere and take some photos :)
Photography has always interested me. I haven't really been actively taking photographs since the early 2000s though, real film and everything!
With the advances in digital photography I feel like I have to spend a ton on gear before I would really enjoy myself. I do miss fiddling with all the settings though.
I'd love to hear about your gear or see some photos sometime if you ever feel like sharing.
Thank you.
I will
A basic used dslr with kit lens and a 50mm lens should be enough to get started.
I have purchased DSLRs for a little as $30 which worked well
For me, it helps having multiple things going. It takes awhile to finish things but usually there is something I feel up to working on. If all else fails I read or play video games for awhile or even fire up netflix. Some of my rotating projects:
also, you were a jump start for me. your prisma images are the reason i finally got gimp installed on this laptop and have been futzing with photos of myself LOL
I mostly write. And I find that I write more when I'm reading more. Sometimes it's "hey, that's a neat idea, but I would have done it this way...." Sometimes it's just that other people's characters inspire me to flights of fancy.
Next month, same as the first: making icons on Dreamwidth, writing fanfic, composing haiku for LGC when appropriate. 😄
I find that talking to other people who actively work on creative projects is a huge boost. One of my friends is working on a fantasy novel, and I'm working on a fantasy comic, so we like to bounce ideas off each other. My work is certainly better thanks to his influence, and I'd like to think he feels the same way.
I'll also second @MsFortitude -- I may have over-committed myself to various creative projects, but damn if my brain isn't constantly firing off ideas for at least one of them.
