Unique Fall Flavors?
Hey there! I'm trying to think of some unique fall flavor pairings for a tart. I'm trying to avoid flavors like pumpkin and ginger snap. Any thoughts?

Apples! You can also mix in pears. Match up with cinnamon. Also works well with almonds, walnuts, maple syrup.
Sweet potato is another great option. It's pretty sweet so it could use acid from tart apples.
Don't forget berries! Pair again with apples. Chocolate and nuts are good options, too.
On the savory side you've got mushrooms, butternut squash, spinach, brown butter, pork, bacon. Butternut squash custard makes a delicious dessert as well. It's a squash like pumpkin so if you're avoiding pumpkin see if you can substitute butternut squash.
Cinnamon is the classic spice but don't forget about other warm spices like allspice, nutmeg, coriander, cardamom.
If you want more specific ideas let me know.
I just made a bacon, leek, and squash fritata that was very fall-out and delicious.
I recently made a crumble with apples, peaches, and plums, mixed with cinnamon and Chipotle chili powder. Delicious!
Quince, apple and ginger?
Cranberries, oranges, blueberry, custard, ginger, cloves, and vanilla are pretty fall-like.
Maybe an orange-blueberry combo? I've got a recipe for a bread with that flavor combo that is literally the best thing ever. And orange-vanilla is a classic, and adding a bit of nutmeg and cloves would probably give it that fall flavour.
Maybe a cranberry/orange? Maybe with some... apricot? Hmm....
Great comments everyone!
