Shut the door. Have a seat.
It will shock you much much it never happened
Mad Men - It will shock you how much it never happened
This is the kind of scene when you suddenly realize you are not watching an ordinary television series. You are watching Art.

It may sound strange, but Mad Men has gotten me through some dark days. Specifically, it helped me through getting fired by reddit. This quote and conversation always sticks with me.
Get out of here and move forward. This never happened. It will shock you how much it never happened.

I don't even need to view this video (and can't coz I'm at work!) -- I remember this scene so vividly, even though I haven't watched it in a long while. I love those lines. "This never happened. It will shock you how much it never happened." Resonates on so many levels for me, personally.
I didn't realize that you had such a personal connection to MAD MEN. There's something about the show that I always connected to. Even when friends would complain about the episodes where "nothing happened", I felt like there was always so much going on. It may not have had the life-and-death stakes of "Breaking Bad" but it was always so emotionally impactful.
It's a special show to me. Here are the reasons:
Wow -- did it help to watch other people smoke while you were craving it? (Makes me think of how I get addicted to cooking shows when I'm starving myself... though perhaps that's an over-share.)
It's interesting what programming pacifies us when we're dealing with traumatic periods. I can see how Mad Men might have a calming effect. Have you ever considered why it had that effect on you? I would imagine the fact that it's set in an earlier time period might help. The scenarios are relatable and yet not too close to home (at least in terms of technology). The story involves a person getting pushed out of a company and then starting his own.
I think it's that it's a different time period that is romantic to me. It's characters, in depth that I really can relate to and identify with. It's nothing too loud, nothing too hard to believe, but nothing so crushing to make me depressed. And there's a lot of detail to focus on. The sets, the decor, the costumes, the research they did etc. Just a perfect show.
I think about that scene in particular at least once a week. What a great show.
It gives me the chills.
Great line for certain!
