Everyone wants me to do my job but my boss

The main designer assigned to my project came to talk to me today after I drafted up a schedule for the rest of this first stage of the process. He had never seen a schedule before and wanted to make sure he understood what everything meant.

And when I explained what I thought the next stage was going to be, according to my boss, he looked a little horrified. I believe it's going to be a feasibility assessment, where we take all the work that they've been doing and throw half of it out because we don't have the time/people to do it.

I explained that I have no control over this process, although I would have done it differently.

He was very pleased to have a schedule of some sort to follow for the moment and told me that he'd back me up if I got into hot water over anything I've done because he's finding it useful.

So now if I could just get my boss to be as enthusiastic about me running things as everyone else seems to be... I might actually have things to do at my office.
