SCG Tour: Baltimore!

So... with all the fancy, flavorful new cards from Eldritch Moon... only two seemed to make a difference: Spell Queller and Selfless Spirit. Those two cards while showing off W/U Spirits also made one deck even stronger... Bant Company. A deck so popular and oppressive, everyone is gathering to try and beat it. Fun fact: Bant Company and Atarka Red are the only decks in the past 2 years that have won back to back Week 1 Standard Opens.
Devin Koepke helped put Team Cardhoarder on the map with his and their first win. With a good amount of pros and SCG grinders leaving to test for Pro Tour Eldritch Moon, the field is wide open for anyone to take down the Standard Open in Baltimore. If I had a guess, maybe look to Todd Anderson and Tom Ross as they might run back W/R Humans. Because why be fancy when you can be aggressive?
As far as points are concerned, Todd Stevens pulled ahead of Kevin Jones in the Season 2 points race with a Top 32 finish in Columbus putting the pressure back on Jones to have a very good performance in Baltimore. Andrew Maine is also in striking distance of claiming 3rd place with a Top 8 performance or maybe spiking a Classic.
In the Player of the Year race, Jeff Hoogland padded his lead with a Top 16 performance in Columbus because of course he did. Hoogland has been putting solid performances conisitently for almost 2 seasons. He definitely wants to try and end this Player of the Year race early. Tom Ross has now moved into the Top 3 and ties Gerry Thompson. While they are a little bit off from catching Hoogland now, perhaps the New Jersey Invitational can shake things up in a couple weeks.
As for this weekend Chris VanMeter and Andrew Boswell put away their Team Cardhoarder jerseys and put on their suits and headsets as they cover all the action from the Baltimore Open on the SCG Tour!
