Shameless Self-Promotion and a Question
Paradoxes - Imzy
For discussing our favorite paradoxes, from philosophy to science and back again.
I recently made a community I think you'd all enjoy. It's called Paradoxes, and in it I've described a few of my favorite paradoxes in my own words, and I'll do more soon. It's not as advanced as some of the stuff I see here, but I bet you guys could help class up the joint. :-)
Anyway, I have a totally unrelated question. It seems like an accepted fact that people don't post regularly on Imzy like they do on other sites. I was wondering, why do you think that is? Is there something in Imzy's design that discourages it? Or is this normal for a new site?

This is a good question. I think the site is still new and people are nervous to disrupt the balance of it too much. I think the site also encourages new interactions in a way unlike other sites, which maybe makes it harder for people to figure out what to say. There seem to be less reposts here (compared to tumblr) or short statements that don't garner any discussion outside of a like(unlike twitter or fb). /paradoxes is a good example of new, fun, interesting posts that may be hard to think up.
Lastly, The posts here stay around longer and continue discussion. I personally find myself tending my communities more than writing new things for them (by tending I mean editing and refining posts, changing the about pages, posting on other communities to find good neighbors, etc). If Twitter or fb can be compared to a stream, then I think imzy is closer to a flowering garden.
That's a good way of looking at it. I see a positive feedback loop going on there- no one posts, so the discussion moves slowly, so no one posts. I hope that changes soon- I think this place is really cool!
