Cooking mac n' cheese from scratch

It's the hottest weekend of the year, so I decided to do some cooking and make homemade mac n' cheese.
Started out with a cheese sauce:

That's starting with a roux of flour and butter, adding in milk, nutmeg, cayanne, pepper, salt, and of course, grated cheddar and romano cheese. Had a bit of a problem grating the cheddar as the grater I used was meant for harder cheeses, so it kept getting clogged.
Also made some bread crumbs out of white bread tossed with melted butter:

Those will go on top of the pasta when it bakes. But first I had to bake the pasta, and decided to mix in some tomato when combining it with the cheese sauce. Left me with this:

Caught me. That's not elbow macaroni. I think the spiral shapes hold the sauce better anyway.
It was hot in the kitchen. Real hot. The air circulation in the apartment isn't the best, so I was basically cooking without air conditioning. I had to rely on my good friend Summer Shandy to cool me down.

That's my story for today.
