I dig giant robots. You dig giant robots. We dig giant robots. Talk about anything related to giant robots here.
IBO 50 and Twilight Axis
We've reached the end of Iron-Blooded Orphans! What did you all think? 83 I'm pretty pleased all things being equal -- there's even more survivors than I expected, ha.
The current new project on the slate is animating Twilight Axis and I'm not that interested in this one, really, but that doesn't mean it can't be talked about of course. Opinions!
So, what did people think?

I watched the first 2 seasons of IBO.. and it left me with a mixed aftertaste.
Sunrise seems to alternate between "mature" Gundams shows and "for kids" Gundam shows... and IBO was between both? It was very dramatic and had compelling depictions of wars, but also relied on cliches often.
I watched it-- i didn't give up on the show. But i didn't enjoy it as much as 00 or the Unicorn/Laplace one (forgot the title)
I don't think there's an iteration of Gundam out there that doesn't fall back on cliches at some point or another, so that didn't bother me much. I did enjoy S2 more than S1 by a landslide and I'm glad to see the Second Season Curse[tm] get dodged for once, lol.
If I look at only G00 S1, I by far prefer G00 to IBO; but IBO stuck the landing while G00 ... well, G00 did S2 and the movie, and welllp. I'm still more fond of G00 in general, but I think IBO came together much better in the end.
I watched all of IBO and enjoyed it, but it definitely also had frustrating aspects. It has a lot of interesting ideas/themes and some fun characters and plenty of cool mech designs, but the moment-to-moment writing was often ehhhhhh... like, it's been a while since I've seen such completely rampant death-flag abuse, among other things.
Oh, and for current projects don't forget the second batch of Thunderbolt is also gradually coming out right now.
I liked the death flags meaning that characters stood a good chance to actually die, which is a nice change, but boy howdy were they not subtle about it, lol.
Haha, I guess I'm old, I remember the time before death flags were usually ironic. ;)
I'm no spring chicken either, but I still enjoyed watching the anticipated killcount ;3
