A meditation and mindfulness discussion related community
Welcome to the Meditation community!
Now that this community has hit 100 users, I guess it's time to have some discussions going on! Let's start with introducing ourselves here by answering these questions that apply to you:
What got you into interested with practicing Meditation and/or mindfulness? (or joining this community if you haven't yet) I never cared for this sort of thing because I was never a religiuos person but I think within the past few years it started to become mainstream in the US (where I live) and there were actually scientific results on how it can actually improve and transform your brain and help focus better! I have a very ADD mind and I started to use this app called Headspace in july of 2015 on my phone and fell in love with the idea of taking 10-20 minutes out of my day to calibrate my mind and wanted to see this as developing some kind of superpower :-D
For mindfulness I think I learned about that term a year or 2 ago and realized I could utlize some techniques to be more patient and not react as much in difficult situations. For an example if someone cuts me off on the street that used to make me very made and give me road rage. But now before I react I become aware of what I'm about to do to my brain and say to myself "whoa that guy must be a famous nascar driver! and be happy that I didn't die in a horrible acccident, or worse live from it, haha :)
How often do you Meditate and what methods do you use?
Not as often as you think a community leader for Mediation would! I don't exactly have a schedule for doing this other than my 10 minute breaks at work and 20-60 minutes on ocassion at home. I still use headspace guided mediations on my phone, but I also use Calm guided medtations and Insight timer for non guided meditations.
Do you have any goals you want to reach with meditation/mindfulness?
So the reason I created this community was because there really wasn't one yet, and I realized I could do it myself. Now that I have I realize that I can run this anyway I want within the imzy guidelines and I plan to make it much more friendler and open than what I've seen on other sites. What I expect to achieve from this is to eventually just be able to meditate at least 20-30 minutes every day like some of you guys probably already do and really help and inspire people to meditate more.
I do want to live sessions with you guys through https://www.calm.com/live/ when I see some more active users and all that requires is for you to clink on the link on a computer browser and I can pick any guided or non guided session I want from my plan and you'll be meditating with me for free! I really do think if people started to meditate more then it could make the world a better place, but at the very least it do think it can help solve a lot of frustrations people may have in life and tap into your intuition to help guide them be naturally happier state of mind.
Just picture yourself watching a video of cute puppies (or whatever animal you might like like) and imagine how happy that makes you. Now imagine being in that state of mind natrually more often without having that feeling dissappear 5 seconds of watching that video! That's what I want to achieve here for myself, and hopefully people here if we all commit to meditating more often :)
Feel free to to introduce yourself here now and ask any questions you might have!
