questionSo if you were reading a book about the 1920s, would the phrase "widows with growing families" imply anything to you?
Hmmmm. Outside of context I'm afraid it doesn't mean much to me, but the 1920s isn't a time period I know a lot about.
Hmm. Okay. "Growing families" to me implies "having more kids", which in the 1920s, would be something to comment on if you were a widow! But I'm not sure if that phrase actually impiles that to other people.
...it's possible I have a touch of dyslexia and I read that as "windows with growing families" even after rereading several times. ::facepalm:: Yes, widows with growing families makes a lot more sense, sorry.
That's the implication that came to my mind when I read the question, yes. (Also: Hi! I've just joined Imzy and I'm bouncing around looking for names I recognise!)
