How Do You Navigate Mental Illness When You're Working-Class?
Taking care of your mental health is expensive. What happens when you don't have the means to seek the help you need? I grew up in a working-class home and I have PTSD, depression, and anxiety - and I still don't know the answer to this.

Ugh. This is so hard. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and it can be really hard when you're dealing with a panic attack and can't work because of it. And you wish you could reach out for help and explain what's going on so that you don't get fired, but you don't want them to think of you as less capable and you're afraid they will, and then even if you don't lose your job, at the least you'll be passed up for promotions. It's kind of a lose-lose situation.
For sure, working while struggling with depression or anxiety is really difficult. I have a very bad work history because of it. I was usually miserable and made my coworkers miserable also. Chose to live in a van over working, many times because of it. But I guess the OP's original question was about getting help, if your maybe lower income? - I found there is free help available if you are in a crisis, but maybe easier to find in larger cities.
