Your sequel-free, superhero-less guide to 2017 movies

As a new year dawns, we're greeted with more of the same from Hollywood: superhero movies, sequels, reboots and origin stories. But that's not all there will be in 2017. There are also a few films that feature no caped crusaders nor lightsaber battles.

I'm sorry the what now XD

It is kinda crazy just how many superhero and sequel movies there are nowadays, they used to claim superheroes would sell, but they were proven wrong!

Flooding the market and making some seriously dreadful films probably poisoned the well a bit. I'm super picky about my super heroes when it comes to films and even I have seen some stinkers. Haha

Yes true, I probably used to see every one that came out in a year but there's too many to manage that now even if I were interested in the whole crowd!

Yeah I stick to the ones with characters I am super interested in or that play a part in a bigger picture (Marvel I'm looking at you!)

It's sort of tragic. I used to be a massive DC fangirl but their franchises as a whole have really gone downhill. I tend to get most of my dose of superheroes via the films and TV series now because their comics are both super expensive and frankly kind of crap these days. The same regurgitated storyline over and over. I started collecting more indie type comics and have been enjoying it more than I had in recent years.

There are a couple on this list I was interested in seeing. And some conspicuous absences?
