Favorite and Least Favorite M/M Covers
Has anyone seen any M/M covers recently that they loved/hated?
I absolutely adore the cover for KJ Charles' A Seditious Affair. I pretty much bought the book based on the cover alone, which probably reveals way more than I'd like about the kinds of characters and tropes I love.
My least favorite cover at the moment: anything that involves this guy, and all variations thereof. I thought this image was hot the first 145 times I saw it, but now I've reached the saturation point, and I just wish authors would please please find another stock photo for their sports romance covers.
In general, I'm not a fan of the trend for headless dudes with baby-oil coated 12-packs, but I can live with it. We all know this man, cousin of Hoodie Guy.
I like slightly better the trend of two dudes obviously photoshopped together into the same image because that at least usually tells me something about the story.
What are your favorite M/M covers? What are your least favorite? What trends do you love, and which trends do you wish would go away?

Headless torso man! I'm not sure if I hate bad covers or just find them amusing.
I'm not even sure what's going on in this picture, I think one guy is morphing into the other guy.
Or this one. This... makes me think it might have maybe been a Snarry fanfic at one point. (I mean, I like Snarry. But I don't think that's what they were going for. Or maybe it was. IDK.)
I don't know if this is a bad cover, so much as I think this is a Hardy Boys reboot cover that went wrong.
I think for best covers it's best to just leave off people entirely. While Sean Michael isn't my favorite author (by far), the Hammer series has very simple covers that at least don't make me turn away or make me burst out laughing.
😆 😆 😆
lol! These are hilarious! The first one looks like the one guy is sprouting out of his boner.
I agree with you that the still life covers are by far the classiest, though they are a lot less fun 😜
As a thank you, I will submit an m/m romance about a guy whose shoulder shapeshifts into a butt (or at least that's what I guess the book is about based on the cover)
That is definitely a shoulder that shapeshifts into a butt.
The last one, I can't! How is it so hilarious, I can't stop laughing XDDD
I really like simple, also well dressed men are a huge plus. This probably tells you my type to a T (if it posts right!)
Oh I love that one. Discreet is the word that comes to mind, which makes sense since Forster is legit literature more than romance.
Here's my "so bad it's good" favorite, it's so overblown that it makes me laugh. The muscles, the pouch, everything is just way too much.
Why that young gentleman is so discreet, I must put him on the cover of my book!
He is clearly very discreet when it comes to smuggling cantaloupe.
Happy sigh. This brings back so much nostalgia for the Very Dramatic illustrated covers of the 80s and 90s.
😍
I looooooooove that cover. It shows that you can both be tasteful and get the swoon effect.
That is nice! *chinhands*
I'm a big fan of the repeated stock images. Especially when it's a terrible stock image:
At least that last one flipped things up a bit...
(I haven't read any of these. But I noticed the covers while browsing.)
That boy gets around.
That dude gets around almost as much as Hoodie Guy! And the necklace makes the image is sooooo distinctive. You'd think cover artists would at least crop it to make it a little less obvious that they are using a really popular image.
This post is awesome and I'm dying of laughter. XD
My fave is Dolphin Dreams's cover:
I discovered it like two days ago and it's already on my top ten of cheesiest covers ever. Just look at how the images blend together, that classy fade out effect for one of the dudes, and the title! Very discreet for a weredolphin threesome.
That one dolphin looks really smug. Like "oh yeah, you have noooo idea what you're getting into."
Smug dolphin about to get laid mwahaha!
