Charles Mingus - Original Faubus Fables
CHARLES MINGUS, Original Faubus Fables
From "Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus" p. 1960. Charles Mingus (bass, vocals); Eric Dolphy (alto saxophone); Ted Curson (trumpet); Dannie Richmond (drums, vocals).
AKA "Fables of Faubus", the lyrics are a direct protest against Gov. Orval Faubus of Arkansas, who resisted integration of public schools. The song was originally released in the album Mingus Ah Um, but the record label refused to allow the lyrics to be published, so an instrumental version was recorded instead. This version, lyrics included, was released in the album "Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus".
Just a reminder to my fellow Americans on this community to keep fighting. We've been through some dark times. We can get through them again. Let's persevere for the next four years.
Personnel:

- Ted Curson - trumpet
- Eric Dolphy - alto saxophone, bass clarinet
