doing trick or treat tarot again!
looks like i'm gonna have another long night. since i had fun and some people regretted missing the last one, i thought i'd give this another shot.
comment "trick or treat", either with a specific question or just in general, and based on a coin-flip you'll get either my usual spread or me testing a new spread or method.
level of seriousness is up to you and your own judgement, obviously. i think i can safely say i'll be awake for the next six hours.

Thanks again for offering these readings. What a lovely gift.
@unholyexhalation I made you a tag! "Official Unholy Exhalation Tarot Reading" ! Let me know if you want it to say something different, of course :)

I'm curious. No worries if you don't get to me.
Trick or Treat! Will I master the chronic fatigue?
you got-- treat! so my usual spread; will post pics after typing up the spread. a tarot throw for your journey with chronic fatigue. (i deal with chronic fatigue too and can relate.)
the first pull is something that characterizes your journey. i pulled five of wands and one-ring circus-- it suggests that you're great at forging ahead and fighting for independence, but that malingering worry and anxiety eat at you even during your best efforts. these are by no means damning, and the goals you set for yourself are implied to be eminently flexible and adjusted to make the most of opportunities.
the second pull is something that you have the capacity to deal with, but that is still an ongoing trial in this journey. i pulled seven of swords and rock bottom. are you someone who is especially disheartened when you realize you overdid it, started a battle with yourself you can't win, or need to take a break? these are normal experiences that don't devalue your progress. continue striving not to beat yourself up about setbacks and needing rest.
the third pull is something that might have the power to halt your journey altogether. i pulled six of swords and coming to life. this suggests that brain fog and difficulty focusing on self-improvement and self-education may be a setback for you, as well as impatience when it comes to slow growth that needs nurtured gently.
the fourth pull is a tool to help you overcome the previous setback(s). i pulled ten of pentacles and unexpected visitors. being greedy on your own behalf and being open to welcoming surprises are powerful. sometimes you get an unexpected opportunity for rest, or an unexpectedly well-timed opportunity to do things-- and as a whole the cards i've drawn would suggest that this is where you flourish. playing it by ear and making tactical judgement calls about what will or won't be most beneficial to you will get you through times of frustration.
and finally, for the natural destination of pursuing this journey, i pulled four of pentacles and dry desert. it suggests that you are on a track to learning to coexist and flourish as best as you can despite ongoing difficulties that may never be permanently defeated. you will find more joys and solace, and become more skilled at navigating your own needs.
hope that's relevant and/or useful!
i love the potent and relateable imagery in these cards. the farmer's anxiety at the distant volcano and the ringmaster's careful balance. the overwhelming opponents of the seven of swords and starkness of rock bottom.
and especially the peace and stability implied by the four of pentacles-- a meditative perspective that adjusts to the circumstances.
Saving it all :D !!
Oh my, just realized that in my excitement I didn't thank you. Thank You!
No problem! Thank you for the feedback and for letting me pull cards for you.
Trick or treat! General is fine. :)
you got-- treat, my usual spread. i'll be pulling cards that'll hopefully be relevant to your current life journey in general.
for the position characterizing your current metaphorical road, i pulled four of wands and education. are you currently putting emphasis on self-education and private creative growth?
for an ongoing challenge, i pulled vulture and magic prayer. this suggests that you might be struggling, on some level, with what spirituality means to you, and how you can make sure it is positive and celebratory rather than negative. you might have recently left behind some beliefs that were causing problems in your life. only you can answer this, if this is even in question, but it is still a difficult consideration.
for what might stop you cold on this journey, i got six of wands and magic stream. with this is implied a lack of balance when it comes to your community participation and social flow. do you give too much of yourself and get overwhelmed by floods of collective opinions? or do you assume you don't have enough worth contributing and find yourself lonely and alienated because you haven't invested yourself?
for a tool that can help you overcome that theoretical roadblock, i pulled king of cups and follow the leader. this recommends that you observe your emotional patterns and forge your own path. you are the architect of your own life. balancing your needs and individuality, as well as taking a chance that someone else might benefit from seeing you be the best you that you can, will be a boon to your personal growth.
finally, for the destination, i pulled six of swords and moonlight. these cards indicate the start of a new journey once the last journey of personal growth has been completed. one of knowledge, wisdom, refinement, and experimentation-- and one of learning to chase down your dreams and tease them out into reality, play with ideas, be open to play and development.
hope this is relevant and/or useful!
Oh, wow! I'll respond more fully when I'm on the computer, but it's very relevant. :)
Also, this is a neat thing! Wish I could find my cards, I could use some practice myself. :)
ooh, which deck(s) do you use? yeah, the practice is handy and fun-- i highly recommend it.
Standard Rider-Waite. I had a deck I loved but it got water damaged, and I haven't been able to afford more decks but this one. Still, it works, when I can find it. :)
i hope it turns up soon-- it's wonderful how flexible and relevant the RWS has remained as a deck! it's still my girlfriend's favorite.
i also hope that someday you fall in love with and can get another deck, though. the silicon dawn i use still has the surviving cards from my first deck mixed in-- i had it on me and got caught in the rain at one point, which destroyed a lot of the cards and was deeply upsetting.
Yeah, the one I loved was Robin Wood. It's not terribly expensive but there are so many other priorities.
(Still on the app, more when I'm in the computer.)
Trick or Treat! Should I pursue a job at my old company?
Omg, your decks are beautiful! Ahm... Can I join? :O Trick or treat! I'm in a very confused moment of my life. When can I hope to put everything in order?
thank you, and welcome! you got trick, so i pulled three positions for "what can you change/affect, what do you have to bear with, and what personal growth can you gain from this difficulty time?"
for the first, what you can change and affect, i pulled queen of swords and details, details. you may be in a position to make smaller factors that add up fall into place. if you are keen of mind and good at listing things to get yourself organized, writing up strategies and keeping records of what's come to pass, those may be incredible boons to you right now.
for the second, what you might have to bear with for a bit, i pulled six of cups and heal the ouch. there may be no way to make this turbulent time in your life into something celebratory, and you may not be in a good position to try to help others right now. this is fine. you will know when the time is right for you personally to live with joy and reach out to others. for now, it might be better to focus on accepting the help that you get, with the intent of paying it forward once you're ready.
and finally, for the personal growth to take away from this, i pulled five of wands, and then the cards moonlight and intention slid out nested together. in some ways, some of the chaos in your life may be distant, but still close enough to be intimidating and upsetting. this time period is an opportunity to learn to hold onto your dreams and make plans for the future despite pressure and confusion. those skills will not only get you through this, but serve you beautifully during better times.
i hope that's relevant and/or helpful!
and here's the cards themselves! i don't know whether it's possible to tell from this pic alone, but the owl imagery exists in both the moonlight and intention cards-- in the first to symbolize a distant, wispy dream, and the second to represent intention in a tangible reality with tangible opportunity.
considering that's the order i drew them in, it suggests that this might be happening in the background of your worries. sometimes we work on things out of habit without paying attention, because our focus is on something that's stressing us out, and then we get pleasantly surprised to find out that we made more progress than expected while busy stressing out.
is there some distant dream that you're hoping to formalize into a plan of action? now might be a good time for that.
That's super helpful... ~A year ago I quit my job and started freelancing to pursue my dream. I'm being able to pay the bills and etc, but the past months were tough, moneywise. I really I think I should be able to support my parents now (I'm 24), but at the same time, I just want SO MUCH to become a writer... There're just too many doubts and insecurities involved, but I'll do my best. Thank you so, so much ♥♥♥ Have a great weekend and a wonderful Halloween :)
overall, if you're able to do what you love and still subsist and survive? that's wonderful. that's worth making the best of.
i wish you a fruitful writing and freelancing season. i know that for me things get scarier during the fall and winter-- whether cashflow itself changes, or it's just the way that the cold and the extra dark kind of eat at me and flare up my worries.
what you're doing is incredible and worth being proud of. i hope you have a great weekend and halloween too.
Trick or treat! How is my new job going to turn out?
you get-- trick! a potential good thing, a potential bad thing, and a surprise thing.
for the first, i pulled nine of cups and goblins. does the job potentially replace some of your deeper-running fears with joys? is there something particularly expressive or fulfilling about it? if so, then it might be very opportune for you to grow your personal joy from.
the second got princess of wands and compass. do you ever feel like you're free-falling with no safety net toward some inevitable conclusion? you very well might be. these cards inherently advise enjoying the ride and making the best of it if you can.
for an aspect that might surprise you, i pulled she-is-legend and field of dreams. you might find the job challenging your assumptions in ways you'd have never anticipated! it's up to you whether this challenge becomes fertile ground to develop and grow yourself and your aspirations for the future, or an ongoing grinding discomfort.
hope that's relevant and/or helps!
Thank you very much! I really enjoyed it!
Trick or treat :)
What will be the circumstances surrounding my death?
ooh, an interesting one! you got treat, so it'll be a spread about the ~journey of your death. i hope the cards put together an acceptably compelling narrative!
for the overall death itself, i pulled princess of swords and home as characterizing facets. this suggests something reckless done at home as a potential cause of death, so to speak. likely an accident, neither sudden and shocking nor wholly expected.
for an ongoing trial toward the end of your life, i pulled seven of wands and heal the ouch. do you tend to have trouble striking a balance between helping others and caring for yourself? if so, then for better or for worse, toward the end you might find that the only thing you truly own is the connections you've built with others.
for something that might be a reason you would regret or fear dying, i pulled queen of swords and come together. any stories you left untold, adventures you left unhad, or emotional intimacies you've let die might bother you toward the end of your life.
for how to overcome or forestall that regret, i pulled the fool and unexpected visitors-- suggesting that you welcome surprise and find the courage in yourself to truly live your life instead of just being alive.
for your Final Destination (i never expected the destination place in this spread to apply in this way!) i pulled queen of wands and magical map shifter. this suggests that at the moment of death, you may perceive yourself as in a transcendental state guided by a higher power, regardless of whether or not that's something you typically believe in.
hope this is the kind of thing you were looking for-- 'tis spooky and 'tis the season!
Hmm, this is interesting. Very interesting indeed! Everything matches up fairly well (except for the accident bit, but maybe that was you looking at "something reckless, neither sudden and shocking nor wholly expected" and drawing a reasonable conclusion).
Or maybe I'm just seeing what I expect to see in the cards. Which are very pretty. I kind of want a deck for myself now...
they're a lot of fun, whether or not you believe in divination. my main decks are the silicon dawn tarot and the enchanted map oracle. former is more cynical and modern in intent and presentation, latter is more light and fluffy.
there are a lot of cool decks out there and they make a good prompt system, framing device, storytelling tool, and form of social connection. most readers who are decent people will be polite and enthusiastic in discussing things that you can't find on google or aren't sure where to start with.
sometimes even just observing and analyzing what you expect to see is a useful tool.
and it's handy for boredom. i like the feeling of shuffling cards to keep my hands busy.
I hope I can do this again! Also, it's so awesome - would you like me to make a special tag for you, if you want to do this on the regular? I could make a "unholy exhalation tarot reading!" tag :)
You're welcome to do it as often as you like!
Trick or treat! My question for the tarot is: will I have kids someday? Just curious to hear what tarot says about this topic :)
repeats are absolutely welcome! and yeah, i think this is something i'd enjoy doing on a regular basis.
you got-- trick! pulling cards for what characterizes your potential literal or metaphorical progeny, the kind of parent you are to them, and unique challenges and joys.
first pull is "in what sense are the kids described your kids?" i got king of void and education. this suggests that you might tend to reach out to those who are grieving, vulnerable, or alienated-- and might underestimate the power of the role you play in their lives, because you find comfort and learn and grow from it, too.
second pull is "what characterizes these kids?" and turned up ace of swords and mountain. are you ever proud of your loved ones for how they approach seemingly insurmountable obstacles, that spark that lets them persist in searching for new angles and opportunities to get through the hardest parts of their lives? anyone you feel that way about is depicted here as a "child of your heart".
your parental aspects are characterized as five of cups and protecting treasure. this says that you try to strike a balance between letting people make their own mistakes to learn and grow from, and being a stable safety net at the same time. this is a beautiful approach when done well.
to indicate a specific challenge you might face, i pulled ten of wands and come together. it hurts when you can't fix someone's problems, when the issue is out of your control-- sometimes it's hard to just be there to be someone who listens and cares when you can't do anything else. but that's needed, too. showing you care helps others weather difficult situations that they can only wait out, and ensures that you have the emotional foundation ready for if things change and you end up in a position to help in more tangible ways.
and a specific joy you might have in this course is denoted by ten of swords and home. you have what you need in order to have closure in your life. to build yourself a place where you are emotionally comfortable and safe, but still be able to say honestly in the end that you've done everything you could. and anywhere you feel at home, where you have these emotionally intimate connections, will function as an escape and solace for you during times that feel otherwise stark and hopeless.
hope that's relevant and/or helpful.
Oh, wow - this is all incredibly true!!! Spot on. Thank you so much; it was really cool to read this! :)
