Ike Quebec - Blue and Sentimental
Blue and Sentimental Album: Blue and Sentimental (1961) Written by: Count Basie Mack David Jerry Livingston Personnel: Ike Quebec - tenor saxophone, piano Grant Green - guitar Paul Chambers - bass Philly Joe Jones - drums
Tonight's post is by lesser-known tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec. This lush, soulful ballad is the title track of his album "Blue and Sentimental". Quebec is joined in a quartet with guitarist Grant Green. Not much to say. Really beautiful bluesy playing from Quebec and Green. Their interpretation of this Basie composition definitely lives up to the name of the song.
Personnel:
- Ike Quebec — tenor saxophone, piano
- Grant Green — guitar
- Paul Chambers — bass
- Philly Joe Jones — drums
