Tonight we have a beautiful bossa-like number by Herbie Hancock. It comes from his 1968 album of the same name. Herbie Hancock chooses to invert the standard small group arrangement and have the horns accompany him as he plays the melody in the head. Some really beautiful piano playing here. The instrumentation of the horn section is also a bit unconventional, with alto flute, flugelhorn, and bass trombone. This gives them a softer, darker sound.
Personnel:
- Jerry Dodgion - Alto Flute
- Thad Jones - Flugelhorn
- Peter Phillips - Bass Trombone
- Herbie Hancock - Piano
- Ron Carter - Bass
- Mickey Roker - Drums

I'm too sleepy to listen tonight properly but it looks beautiful :)
