Tonight's post is by Hammond B3 organist Larry Young. This groovy Latin composition is from his album "Into Somethin'". The trio including guitarist Grant Green and drummer Elvin Jones had previously recorded several albums under Green's name. The way the different instruments fit together in the head section is really cool. Jone's polyrhythmic drumming and Young's organ bass lines set the foundation, over which is layered the stacatto chords of Jone's upper manual and Green's guitar. Meanwhile, Sam River's saxophone trill in the background sounds like a swarm of angry bees.

Personnel:

  • Larry Young - Hammond B3 organ
  • Grant Green - guitar
  • Sam Rivers - tenor saxophone
  • Elvin Jones - drums
