2017 Movie Resolution
Hey all. For 2016 I tackled reading 52 books in a year (I can't wait to be done). So, for 2017 I was contemplating doing something similar, but for movies instead. I am thinking of something along the lines of 200 movies in 2017 that I have never watched before. What does anyone think of an idea like this. Is it movie overload? Is anyone interested in joining in this journey? What app should I use to track my watch history?

You could use Flixster/Rotten Tomatoes? And I think 200 is incredibly ambitious for the first year doing it, unless you're dropping just about everything else to do it. Your "can't wait to be done" with your 52 books is a perfect example of what turning something you should love into a job does.
My suggestion, start small, with 50. And go from there?
I wasn't an avid reader prior to this year, but I am an avid movie/tv show fan, so this is more up my alley than books I think because I already watch more than 50 anyway. But, 200 might be high. Thanks for the feedback.
I think my feelings about finishing these books are ugh please be done is because I have to sacrifice other hobbies like video games and movies for books and I'm feeling like I am missing out on other hobbies
As someone who is writing with hopes of getting published, I know how you feel! I've given up a lot for my writing, and sometimes that makes it into a chore instead of something I love to do.
I just don't want you to turn something you love into a chore.
There are some really well done lists of movies you have to see before you die. I would print one such list out and try to run through as many as you can in 2017.
If you're looking for movie recommendations for your journey, put The Bridge on the River Kwai on your list.
Cool, thanks for the tips!
I use IMDB to track what I've watched, and what I want to watch. I think my current watchlist is about 250 movies long, so I'm going to try and get that down to double digits for 2018. (Although it doesn't help with Thanksgiving and Christmas releases, I've added about 20 in the last week or so).
200 is a lot, but I'd join in trying to get that feat.
What are you thinking is a reasonable number? 150? 200? Come up with a universal watchlist (not sure how that would work since people have different likes/dislikes, but I could be persuaded otherwise).
I'd say around 150 would be manageable. I don't think a universal list would work well, but it's probably the best way to discuss them. We could always start a community for a film club though, and every weekend have a different movie to watch and discuss.
Yeah that would be an interesting idea. Not sure if there will be much interest in that as of now but wouldn't hurt to possibly build one and go from there.
